TGGRRR (Ali) Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Check this out https://buyroadwrap.infusionsoft.com/cart/store.jsp?view=4&i=p2&navicat=2&navisubcat=18&naviprod=2 If you spend weeks detailing your car, you can protect it from bugs on the way down to the Dragon. I'm ordering some Ali Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
carman63 Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Just a thought - before you buy that, head down to your local rent-a-truck place or self-storage place, and see what they charge for the large rolls of wrap. I'm not saying it's the same, but they're close.
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 This stuff is a lot thicker then the packing stuff. It will even prevent rock chips Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
IndiCooper Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 This sounds like a great idea!! im not sure how much of the front end is going to get getting covered in stickers just yet:dontknow: but i would be kind of hesitant with sticking this over any vinyl work :dong:
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 They say you can also use blue painters tape, which might be easier over the vinyl and it has a very low stick. The painters tape will protect from bugs but not rock chips. Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
carman63 Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 The only prevention for rock chips is to never drive your car At 2 mil thick it's just a matter of rock size vs rate of speed (yours and the rock's)
IndiCooper Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I don't think I'm gonna wrap the whole front end in blue painters tape, im gonna be getting enough wierd looks as it is, but what i really need is something to protect my windshield from rocks,2 out of the 4 years ive gone I've gotten a rock chip in my windshield and i didn't even take my car the first year so its more like 2 outta 3!!!!
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 I found this stuff for Windshields http://www.windshieldprotector.com/ I can't find a price. It is probably not cheap. Ali Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman

Edge Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I found this stuff for Windshields http://www.windshieldprotector.com/ I can't find a price. It is probably not cheap. Edge Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Was it expensive? Can they do it after the windshield has some pits in it?I think it's mostly intended for a new windshield. It ran me $500, without the replacement warranty (which uses Safelite). I think it was an extra $100 to include the replacement warranty. Having had it before, and knowing how MINIs are so prone to windshield impact cracks, I wanted the same treatment done on my new windshield. It isn't cheap, but in my own opinion, it's worth it. TGGRRR (Ali) Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 I dunno, you should have seen Mark's face when he discovered his first rock chips after the Fall Colors run, he was so sad. I will tell him it's a badge of honor and see if that makes him feel better. Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
Scavenger Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I hate the chips too, fortunately for him, the silver is easier to touch up and hide the defect. 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com
