Tail lights

Recommended Posts

I got $100 for my birthday and want to spend it on Tigger. I saw these blacked out tail lights for about $130.

Are these hard to replace?

Anyone know anything about them or have a recommendation for something better

Yeah, the tail lights are easy to swap out - I swapped my own ones out with the Euro version (with amber turn signals, the way they should be!).

I just heard from Steve, he has the CF version of them and he loves them. Said they were really easy to install.

Glad you knew he had them Jim, it's always good to have a personal endorsement.

Slowly I am going to kill the chrome. Yesterday Mark said to me "Well you've gone half way now, just kill the rest of it"

I appreciate all the input

Hey All,

Yes these taillights are pretty easy to install (on R53 at least). The only thing to keep in mind is that to unstall the stock and install the aftermarket, there's not a whole lot of room in the boot, so make sure you have small enough tools to work around from the inside. Make sure that if you have to remove a nut/bolt, that you have a good grip on it once removed. (Yes I dropped one on the first one I did and couldn't find it :-/). The wiring was pretty simple as well. Contact me if you have any other Install questions and I'll be glad to help.

And there's even less room on the Cabrio. Sorry Ali but that's one job that you won't get me to volunteer for! The lights on LUXOR do look very nice.

Haemish, while I totally respect your thoughts on amber turn signals, I do like the fact that mine don't appear to be amber until I hit the turn signal. To each his/her own and we'll all do the "youification" thing! :)

That's fine - at least they are amber when they light up. What I particularly hate are red turn signals - which is how they came in 1st Gens from 2005 onwards, and how many cars sold here in the USA come.

I also prefer the amber indicators, I haven't made the switch though...
