  1. Awesome thread, and write up!

This is something I have been looking into over the past couple of months, and really want to go with a big brake conversion. One question, Haemish: Any reason you didn't go with a slotted/drilled rotor?

So glad you posted all this, it saved me from the thread I was gonna be making! Looks great!!

  2. that is a few more that I would like, but it looks great!

I am always so sketched with electrical work.:frown: I have done LOADS of car audio, but lighting always seems to throw a stick in the works.

I want to do 2 lights, but in the loser cowl/vent, just under the bumper and leave the recessed.

  3. I just need a resonator welded in, and I am ready to put on my new pipes. Damn Monroe quoted me almost 8 hundred dollars to do the job, I seriously laughed in the kids face(he looked 17). I said I already HAVE the exhaust, I just want a resonator welded in, and an install. . . he said, "Oh I know, and that is the price to do that". GRRR.

  4. I had my S 2 days before the run-flats were gone! The Dunlop Star-Specs transformed the handing & kept me from back surgery... the originals are horrible. After that, the only other change you really need to make is a bigger rear sway bar. Sure, Konis & springs, camber plates, etc. are all nice for the track but the tires and rear bar make the Mini livable & a blast to drive on public roads. Well, those and the hood stripes that add at least 20 MPH:laugh:

What color stripes, Red ones are the fastest!:top::tongue:

  5. Dan, and Mach V I am sure would be happy to help, but, for just an oil change, if you really don't have the time/space/know how, it is really something a Jiffy Lube place can do. It's something a trained monkey can do, it isn't technical. . .oil goes out, oil goes back in, don't over tighten the oil pan drain plug, don't under fill/over fill the oil.

the brakes, while not a difficult job, I would trust a man, more than monkey to do. there are no shortages of places in Manassas too, google/yelp, and read the reviews.

  6. Damn, it's illegal to drive and not be hands free nowadays, let alone having what looks like a order window hanging in the left. . .I guess I am just missing what it does? If it is for photos and stuff, I guess I just don't see the advantage as the stuff above is really noisy, and over saturated, imo. :dontknow:

  7. Did you say Arthur Treachers, the chip shop? :top: DCMM needs to go there sometime, doesn't get more British than Fish n' Chips!

LOL, I did! The ONLY one I have ever seen besides this one, was when I flew into Norfolk ITL.

Being a Brit, I LOVE me a good chippy, and though A.T. sin't quite the local, it's mediocre in a pinch(Much prefer the Auld Shebeen, though Irish).

I have had dreams of starting a lunch truck, calling it Union Jons and doing proper fish n chips, Pork pies, Pasties, Bakewell Tarts, a decent curry and some specials.

  8. Hey guys

With the economy around here on a roller coaster, it seems car washes keep dying and being birthed. Anyone know of a decent DIY wash? I live in Arlington but commute out to the Herndon area sometimes, so somewhere in there would be ideal.

There is a 6 stall one at the Citgo at Fairfax Circle, right next to the Arthur Treachers. I like it because there is also an Advanced Auto Parts right across the street, so it's east to stock up on supplies then, and there.

Normally is about $5.50 in quarters to accomplish all that needs to be done.

  9. Here is the link to my photo set.

I may be adding more as I tweak some of the other shots, but I wanted to get the portrait ones up quick.

Had an awesome time and hope to see everyone again soon!

  10. I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one, Jono... I find Pelican Parts to be a good, quick way to get a "roughly dealer price" quote or even "more expensive than the dealer" quote... but it's quick and easy to use so it serves a purpose.

Case in point... I'm currently planning for a big ticket OEM item for my MINI. I have looked into prices for it. Note this is for a single MINI part number:

    Pelican Parts: $2320.25

    MINI of Sterling: $2263.65

    MINI of Alexandria: $2263.65

    MINI of Morristown: $2037.29

    Classic MINI of Ohio: $1754.33

fair enough, but I also think the same can be said about any of the sites. . . some rob from Peter to pay Paul, and what might be a great deal somewhere, is made up for in a few other parts. No biggie, just nature of the business I suppose.
