  1. Not sure what are you guys talking about, there are 4 rings (2 on each side) just above the upper floor shelf; just last weekend I've used the net to secure a cake for a kid b-day, it worked perfectly fine.
  2. Sounds like property tax evasion...
  3. I'd have the wheel in question rotated with another one to see if the error is caused by the sensor (the error will follow the wheel) or the receiving unit (the error will remain @ right rear).
  4. I believe for the 2nd gen you have to keep the original radio, even if it's the basic one, to keep all other electronics/check systems working. Also, I'm not sure if installing any touch screen/navi unit this low is useful.
  5. Oil filter for MINI is probably one of the smallest (and simplest) filters ever existed.
  6. for obvious reasons...
  7. IIRC it's ~$8/qt from MoA (and sadly our 10% discount doesn't apply...)
  8. MoA has permanent special $79+tax (http://www.miniofalexandria.com/ServiceSpecials), but they also mail out coupons for like $59+tax, which is very close to the cost of DIY (~$10 filter, ~$35 oil). I'm a DIY guy, but frankly speaking unless you really enjoy it, the hassles of cleaning around after extracting the oil filter and later taking used oil to autozone/recycler aren't worth savings.
  9. After I had one of the windows to be done by Carlos that involved a long trip to his place (not to bash him, but defects happen), I try to use places close to my home or work, so my other car was done in Gaithersburg @ In Car Electronics I.C.E. $200 for an SUV, so MINI should be cheaper.
  10. I switched from OEM Dunlop run-flats (squeezed 46K miles out of them, btw) to Conti DWS this Sunday. The biggest impression - much, MUCH softer ride, kinda comparable to 'justa' loaner on 15 in. run-flats I drove recently. Haven't noticed any degradation in steering response that some report with Contis.
  11. Well, talk about suspicious coincidences : as I was about to shop for oil/filter, MoA sent a coupon for a $59.99 oil change which I promptly used. The total came up to ~$68, which I think is bargain all thing considered.
  12. I know, oem from local MoA is ~$10, and other Purolators are even cheaper at the same pep boys. It's just for some reason the small MINI one is triple the price.
  13. $26.99. I needed something at pepboys and out of curiosity checked out if they had oil filters for MINI. I think it's their most expensive AND the smallest (!!) filter available.
  14. I prefer NRA since I'm a member, but Blue Ridge is fine too... although, do they require to sign up for a membership, etc that would make one-time visit there rather costly? Oh, I'll bring XD 9mm.
  15. Well, Passport is not far from my place so if Craig is willing to try it, I'll come over.
  16. Listen, my LB hood scoop is slightly warped in the middle - I guess it's from the heat. I know some folks got it successfully replaced under warranty, but I never bothered since the bent is minimal, and from my experience dealing with Mini SAs is more like begging, which I hate to do. But if you have good relationships with someone who can help getting my current scoop replaced under warranty, that what happens to the old one is up to the scoop...
  17. Subj. There's a good multipage thread on the main site, but no recent $$ quotes from DC area.
  18. Hm, I wonder if it's a model year/options thing, but the horn in my clubby sounds quite solid, almost too solid for a small car. Could be a matter of personal preferences/taste, though...
  19. Price

    Wanted!

Aren't Mini units the same as in E60/E90 and other bimmers of certain model years? In any case, given the cost and need to pay for coding @ dealer, I went with an XM unit scored on craiglist for mere $20. It even came with a remote that fits nicely unter the parking brake.
  20. So thanks to warm weather, I took the car back to Carlos yesterday. He re-did one of the windows and tried to remove/reduce bubbles with a heat gun on others. It sort of helped, but the final verdict will be in few days.
  21. I have a garage, so it dried ok, but now I notice quite a few tiny bubbles in some places, plus in couple of spots it looks like grains of sand/dust stuck under the film. I may need to go back to fix this.
  22. Nice to meet you guys, and I concur re Carlos, although obviously some time is needed to assess durability of the tint. P.S. With sunroof, total for my clubman was $150.
