If you can come by the house (or Quitta's), either of us can clear the CEL for you. It's usually a random misfire or rough idle code that's caused by the seafoam treatment. Ali is right though, if it hasn't been run through the car before, it needs to sit longer to soak into the carbon build up and loosen it up. I create some MIGHTY clouds of smoke!

And you thought you'd catch the JCW?

Remote Starter/sub enclosure For MINIs?
cmcveay replied to BigDog's topic in Maintenance & Modifications
I looked into it briefly a while back. Check Viper, I seem to recall they offered a remote start for BMW/MINI. Also, check your local laws about it. Lots of places have made it an infraction to leave an unattended vehicle running. -
No, Archie was parked across the street at the mall parking and I'm sure that Lola has a pass for the official parking where the conference was. It was pretty cool to look see the attendee list and find a fellow DCMM member though!

Cindy, Should the weather change and get some really cold days before you change the tires out, just be really careful. I put my summer tires on Archi on a Friday and we had a little snow storm on Monday. I was able to drive to work and back but I was a complete nervous wreck the entire time! Craig

Cindy, being run-flat or not has no impact on the cold weather capabilities of the tire. If you happen to have summer tires that are run-flats, then many of them do have cautions about using them below certain temps. If you have all-season run-flats, most of them don't have the same caution. If you aren't sure, repost with the name (Bridgestone is the maker) of the tire and one of us can look it up for you. I'm sure someone will offer up another website but if you have the name and maker of the tire, you can also go to http://www.tirerack.com to see what it's weather capabilities are.

The uninstalled springs are taken.

Well, to be honest, I've also got an Access Port. I do use a phone app most often though. Alan - let me know when you want to set up the SGII and we can do that. I'll have to do some quick research to make sure the same setting work for the 1st Gens though. I'm not certain but the 2nd Gens may have a different set up.
-
That may not be a bad idea! If anyone is interested in setting up a meeting point, please post it in the even feelers forum and we'll see how many are interested!

Okay, that was fast. SOLD!

I've got a ScanGauge II that I am not using and it needs a good home. This particular device will allow you to monitor 4 engine levels in real time through the OBD-II port. It has access to a dozen or more displays. The ScanGuage will work in pretty much any vehicle since the mid-late 80's (I think it was '85) and it will also clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). I've set up custom displays for the MINI to include Boost, HP, Torque and something else that I can't remember off the top of my head. The color is already set to be a very close match to the dash colors of the MINI. Included is an extra cable so you can quickly put the gauge in other cars without having to pull your cable out. and a Cravenspeed mount for the gauge if you are already using a Cravenspeed mounting system. Retail for the gauge alone is about $160, the extra cable is about $15 and the Cravenspeed mount was $?. I'll take $100 for the entire package, out the door. PM or email me from DCMM - first come, first served.

Ryan - hit up via email or phone, let's talk. I know your schedule is tough. Quitta - give me a call. The parts you are talking about will be a full days work. Catalina - give me a call, the car cover is in the closet waiting for Lola to try it on. I'm certain it'll fit, it's for an R56 but I now it's got to "look right". That's how ladies are. Jay - They are blue and yes, a straight swap. This can be done in a driveway, I've got ramps so the front end can be lifted easily. I'm going to pull my Forge IC out and I'm 99% sure I'll put it in the new car since any 2nd Gen "S"/"JCW" will only improve with a better IC. Email me from DCMM and I'll reply back so we can work something out.
-
Ali, I don't know if the antenna will work but we can try. Laura, done. Celia, rear seat delete is easy. We'll have to set something up for the sway bar since it's gotta be a swap.
-
I'm updating the list. If the current trade/swap/sale falls through, I'll repost. My delivery time has been pushed back with arrival in mid-october if it's not delayed again. Everything here comes from or is made for an 09 R56 MCS: - OEM Sport Springs (removed at 7k, out of the car) Free to a good home. - NM Engineering RS "Alpha" springs with Bilstein struts (about 4k miles) on the car. Will do an even swap for your OEM struts/springs. I'd like to swap these one for one for OEM struts/springs to make the process easier for everyone involved. - NM Engineering hot side and cold side boost tubes (on car, will trade for your OEM pieces). - Complete set of SS brake lines, never installed. Make me an offer. I have access to the auto hobby shop on Bolling AFB and all of this work could take a full weekend. If I've forgotten anything and you know that I've modded it or you like what I've got, make me an offer.

I talked to the Sales Manager yesterday to confirm the Meet and Greet and they are looking forward to DCMM being there. They understand that it's a bit of a hike for lots of our members so they don't expect a big crowd. They are really excited about getting the Coupe for a showing (demo only, no test drives) in September!
-
Yep, that is the critical question since it won't be long before it's 1st, 2nd or 3rd Gen...
-
Ken, Last year, we did actually meet up near Passport and we headed out to caravan down I-95. Wow, was that awful..... As it is known to do, I-95 turned into a slow moving parking lot and when we diverted off onto US-1, it wasn't much better. I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from trying again and the fact that the event is later in the summer may help, just be prepared or see if there's an alternate route that will get you away from I-95.

BT in the 2nd Gen is different, the BT security code is selected by the user.
-
Yep, that's pretty much the way it works. You decide your BT code. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
-
Gary, When you go into the setting on your phone and tell it to be "discoverable", the car the the phone will "talk" to each other. When they decide to start sharing information, the phone should ask for a 4 digit pass code which you enter on the phone. The car will ask for the pass code as well (it's a security feature in BT). Once you've gotten that part done, you should be ready to go.

Sorry for the delay in getting these posted. Feel free to download and you should be able to upload as well if you'd like to share your photos. Picnic

Hey Jono - yeah, these are just voice (VOIP) so it's still free. You can either link them to a single Skype account or individual accounts and connect. There is a fee for calling outside of the VOIP but I never used them outside of that. While I was in GTMO, there were a couple of free WiFi hotspots and I used to carry one over there with me to make calls or I just called from the house where I had WiFi as well.
