  1. Bummer ... was gettin' all excited about going there, since I work in Herndon. I've been using a DIY wash on Branch Ave (Sam's) over the years, which is pretty good, but am looking 4 one w/the colorful foam that Lola got! :embarassed:

I drove by the Flagship car wash in Herndon, I even spoke with a worker. They do NOT have a self service option, even though their web site states that they do. Sorry to get anyone's hopes up. The old bait and switch.
  2. On my way home yesterday, I see a woman driving a silver MINI cabrio. So, I wave once; didn't get a response (or, I missed it, which is entirely possible). We're on Centreville Road, I pass and honk my horn and wave again. When we get to a light, she pulls up beside me and yells, 'Hey! Are u VioletDC'? I yell back, 'Yes!!! Hi!'. She yells back, Hey! I'm MINIBee!!! All these years, and we finally meet!' We're justa grinnin' at each other, chatting back & 4th 'til the light changed and motored our respective ways. It was truly awesome 2 meet some1 you've known only online!. :top:

  3. OMG! That's awful! :hmmmm:

Hey, I live in MD, 2, and have absolutely NO qualms about griping about their non-drivin' azzes! I didn't learn 2 drive in MD, tho--just a transplant tryna get back 2 DC ... LOL!

im just joking around i said that bc i know there are some MD members
  4. Interesting ... I saw that option in iTunes and hadn't heard of it, let alone used it, b4. Will my HK CD player be able 2 play/read it? I don't use an iPod at all.

If you're converting directly from non-compressed (e.g. CD) source material to play on your iPod, I highly recommend you convert to AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) instead of MP3. It's a far superior format, better quality sound than MP3, and no, it isn't a proprietary Apple format. It's a standard, just like MP3, and many devices support it, not those from Apple (not as many support AAC as MP3 though, that is true). It's a newer format that was designed specifically to be the successor to MP3, to the point that it is even stated as such by MP3's creator, Fraunhofer IIS.
  5. I burn my CDs in MP3 4mat, but it still doesn't work 4 me. Not planning 2 replace my HK system, tho, so I'll just motor on and try 2 remember 2 put the playlist on the labels I create. At least I'll know what I'm gonna listen 2 b4 slipping the CD in the player. :embarassed:

I'm looking to move everything to an MP3 format and player for obvious reasons. Even though I don't have 20,000 songs like cmcveay, I still have too many buckets of CDs, and, I'm paranoid about something happening to them. Waayyy too expensive to risk damage by carrying them back and forth in my car. As it is my car CD holder is a steel case (acquired for carrying when hiking, back before MP3 players existed).
  6. I burn a lot of CDs for motoring, and find the lack of CD info maddening, as well. I use my Mac (iTunes) 2 burn them and have the 'include CD data' (or whatever it's called) option checked, but 2 no avail. Scoopie is an R53 w/the HK system, so I guess I don't have that capability in any case. :frown:

  7. So, I stop by Popeye's 4 lunch, and notice a Senate Insurance-branded 1st Gen MINI. Of course, I got a DCMM card 4 branding & notice a tall, dark, handsome guy checkin' Scoopie out, but head on over 2 tag the MINI. 2 my surprise, TD&H guy heads 4 the same MINI! I introduce myself & hand him the card, along w/a 10-second brief about the club & that he should check us out online. He seemed interested & a little excited that there's a local MINI club; his name's Reggie & I hope he visits soon!

  8. I've noticed more MINIs, as well, but have yet 2 spot a Coupe' live & in person. Since I've been working more, there are a coupla things I need 2 do 2 get Scoopie ready 4 the trip: new eyes (found a shop that'll install her 'smoky eyes' 4 me nearby that won't cost me an arm, leg, & Babygirl #1); oil change; and overall checkup. Lookin' 4ward 2 the trip, tho.

  9. Thanks 4 the info, Katie! I'll have 2 check out Ingles on my way in & stock up.

definitely BYOB...they won't have Guinness, and the beer they sell at the general store will be pricey. Plus, I think it's crappy beer....I remember seeing Bud Light (shudder)....don't know what else they carry.

There is a super market (Ingles) in Robbinsville, so you can get food there. There isn't a liquor store in Graham County, and I think it's a haul to the closest one...like an hour away, I think.

I bring some food with me, aside from the vat of spaghetti sauce, but I stop at Ingles on my way to Fontana to get last minute stuff.

It helps to make lists..like what food/drink you're going to take and what food/drink you plan on buying there.

All the cabins have coffee makers, microwaves and toasters and their appliances are full sized. The kitchens have everything you'll need to cook...if you need an extra pot or pan, you can always borrow from our cabin.
