Scavenger Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) Just got an email from DINAN advertising a sale they have going. It's 25% off all MINI mods in stock. A little history might be necessary - DINAN has traditionally been a BMW tuner shop and they've done good things with 3,5,7-Series standard and M cars. So, when the new MINI came out, they decided to give it a shot and released several modifications and kits. After MINI replaced the R53 with the R56 for 2007, DINAN discontinued development. Therefore, none of their mods are designed for '07 and newer Cooper, Cooper S, or Clubman models. However, their mods theoretically may work on the '07 and '08 convertibles. Many people feel that the mods are overpriced, but one thing that made them attractive was they offer a warranty through the MINI dealerships, which is where the installation takes place. MINI of Sterling was a participating dealership, but I don't know about MINI of Alexandria. Anyways... see the DINAN web site. JustJAY Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Here is what I think I would buy if I didn't already have or had the money to get: CAI Throttle Body This is out of 36 products they say they have..... Don't even get the exhaust, ask Scavenger! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Edge Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 I stand by my original decision. I'll stick with JCW. Scavenger Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 The CAI is very good. It is made of a good material which keeps hot engine-bay air out, it also has a large Cowl-Induction slot at the top which pulls cool air off the windshield. For the current discount price, I'd say it's an awesome deal. As for the throttle body, it's something that probably won't provide a whole lot of perceivable difference until you've gotten a tune, but, then again, I can't say for sure. Also, the suspension packages are a great deal, several automotive reviews have said they were as good if not better than the JCW suspension. I would skip the boost kit though, these days, most have discovered that just doing a pulley and a tune will give you about the same reward for a much lower cost. Oh... and the exhaust, well... they sound great, look kinda cool, but the chrome tips started rusting a day after it was installed. I went through 3 of them before switching to the JCW exhaust. VioletDC Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Rust after 1 day?!? THAT is NOT cool. 'scuuuuze me while I kiss the sky ~ Jimi
Edge Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 With an RMW tune ...which is totally invisible when it comes to service. All of my JCW stuff is fully serviceable at any dealer in the country. That's peace of mind that I truly appreciate. "Mr. OEM" - 05 JCW (TK, GPIC, SS, GPTA, R56 RSB, StBr, R56 BBK, GPWhls, SV, RS, R56 GSI, IES, StrWhl, GK, HG, LBIT) MCS, HB/HB, Packs: 1, 2, 3 & 4. Scavenger Posted January 20, 2011 Author Report Posted January 20, 2011 BUMP! DINAN is running this sale again. Of particular interest might be the camber plates and the rear anti-sway bar. Unfortunately, they've sold out of the intake, which was really a gem! oh well. 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com
orcadog Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 BUMP! DINAN is running this sale again. Unfortunately, they've sold out of the intake, which was really a gem! oh well. Indeed! I bought one when it was on sale earlier this year and love it. I just recently pointed someone to it only to discover they were "out of stock". I sort of inferred from that, and the fact that they don't support any R56 based models, that they are getting out of the MINI business.? Pure speculation on my part. Get these parts while they are on sale! Good Stuff!
TATTRAT Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 wow, great bump! Strut tower brace, I am so debating. . .the one from M7 has been out of stock for what seems like forever, this one seems to be a good switch. . . hrmmm. flickr
Scavenger Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Yep, they're discontinuing MINI work. 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com
