I had some influence on my initial purchase and was convinced not to buy the checkered side view mirror caps and now I want to blow some extra cash on them Don't want to spend $200 for the dealer to install them. As mentioned, super easy to do, and you seem to be on the right path already(as for NAM). Now I just need to find some.. Sterling has them for $97, outmotoring.com for $94, Morristown (through motoringfile.com) has em for $87. I get coupons every once in awhile for Sterling and would love to further support them, so hopefully I can dig up one or another one comes soon. cmcveay Posted July 17, 2011 Report Share Posted July 17, 2011 When you do it, just make sure to follow one of the early steps very closely. Put a towel or something on the ground, under the mirror. The first time I popped the mirror cap off, it jumped right off and would have gotten damaged if not for the towel. maacodale Posted July 17, 2011 Report Share Posted July 17, 2011 If you've got a Northern Tool or Harbor Freight up there, they have a set of smallish plastic pry bars that work great for this and they're less than 10 bucks if I remember right. carman63 Posted July 18, 2011 Report Share Posted July 18, 2011 I have these scraper-like tools. Basically, a pot scraper that you can buy at most chef stores, but smaller and cheaper. Work one of those around the edge of where the mirror cap meets the black plastic housing. The mirror caps will pop off in your hands. One fell on the ground wasn't a big deal as it was the old black ones and frankly, they get chewed up by rocks anyways. Been loving them since.
