Place to get Clubman tinted in NoVA?

Recommended Posts

I have Friday off and might be able to make it happen if it was early enough in the day but family is in town for the holiday and it's an hour each way for me plus install time. What times did he offer to us?

If Friday doesn't work out, I'll still be looking to make a tint appointment somewhere (whether with Carlos or TNT in NoVA) - will have to be a Saturday if anyone else wants to schedule around the same time.

I'll get a time window on Friday and post it and I don't mind putting you up front if that'll help you out. I know there's one that prefers sometime around lunch so it's laying down pretty good!

Even if it is a drive, you can't go wrong with Solar Solutions. I just had my Clubman S tinted by Carlos a couple of weeks ago (20% all around incl. sunroof). He does a quick and very reasonably priced but top-notch job and stands by his work. He is also very easy to work with.

Carlos also tinted my Cooper S a couple of years ago and everything was perfect, which is why I am a repeat customer. He uses high-quality tint (no cheap crap that is going to turn purple) and my tint still looked brand-new when I went to trade in the car last month.

Okay, here's the deal for Friday.

First, Carlos is looking forward to us coming up to visit, he's been more than incredibly friendly on the phone.

On Friday, he opens at 10 a.m. and he doesn't mind if we show up together or space it out a bit between us. If we show up early, he said it's okay to look over his shoulder and point and laugh as much as we want.

Because I have some existing tint to be removed, I plan on being up there when he opens. Price plans on being there around Lunch time and Yarsay else was a possible for earlier rather than later.

Since this isn't a formal event, there's no need for RSVP's but it's awesome that we are getting a few folks up there to help stimulate the economy, help a small business and, most importantly, it just might keep us out of stores for Black Friday shopping!

Guess I was a little late to the draw on this one. If we're booked up for the first few hours after 10am I'm likely out - have lunchtime / early afternoon family commitment.

In that case I'll likely be trying to find another time to go an upcoming Saturday when we have a few days of sun and before it gets too cold if anyone else is interested.

Yarsay,

Be there at 10 with me! No big deal. The more the merrier and you should be able to get done and on your way home to be with the family. My wife is working a 24 hour shift the day before so I'm going to stay out of the house for a while and let her sleep!

If anyone else needs an endorsement for Carlos at Solar Solutions, the guy gets 5 stars. Although I hadn't planned on spending the day with him today, I wasn't in a hurry so I took the last spot instead of the first. I believe everyone was happy with the work they had done as well as the cost.

If a few people are interested in getting tinting done, give Carlos a call. He told me today that if a group comes up, he'll give the same discount which I believe was $100 or $120.

I have a garage, so it dried ok, but now I notice quite a few tiny bubbles in some places, plus in couple of spots it looks like grains of sand/dust stuck under the film. I may need to go back to fix this.
A few small bubbles are normal at the start. They will disappear over time, especially when exposed to enough sunlight (warms up the film).

Can't speak to the sand/dust issue though. Definitely give Carlos a call to chat about it before you head up again.

Yeah, the cold has slowed down the process and I still have a couple of small water bubbles but they are smaller and smaller each day. I think they will be gone by Tuesday. Higher temps allow the water vapor to pass through the film and the film clears up, the lower temps don't let it through as easily.

As far as the dust or other particles, I would suggest giving it a couple of days to see if the areas clears up and if not, give Carlos a call. I'm willing to be he will take care of it to your satisfaction.
