  1. Definitely agree! From the colors of the sunset in the sky to the city lights in the darkness below, a stunning picture!
  2. I wouldn't mind being a spectator and/or passenger, but not quite ready to drive a course yet.
  3. It is a ticketable offense. Usually the first time results in a warning, presuming you feign ignorance of the requirement. Of course, if you've been living here for years, it might be hard to do this. Tow hook license plate holders are also an option... http://www.outmotoring.com/grimspeed-license-plate-relocation-kit.html
  4. I believe it was Catalina that found it, crossing the path as we were walking back to the park from the tunnel.
  5. Dur... I forgot to thank Ali as well for putting this all together! This would probably also make a great run in the fall, as the colors start to change (and keep in mind that they'd probably change up there sooner than they do here). My pictures are uploaded... full size right now, so download or get prints or whatever you want. I'll be resizing them to Google's max size so that they don't count against my space limit soon. http://picasaweb.google.com/102780596772348004929/PawPawTunnel
  6. So I split from the group a little early, not wanting to go to the Virginia Farm Market at the end. Aside from a bit humid - as expected - the day was very nice! The Coffee shop in Purcellville was a great place to start the day! Not only do the owners have a MINI, they have a friend with a CLASSIC Mini - 1967 Morris Mini S. Done in white, with red 10" wheels, it was in amazing condition! Neither was able to join us for the trip - the owners of course needed to run the shop, while the friend departed after talking with a bunch of us for a bit. I won't spoil everything for everyone else, so I'll let someone else provide more details on the day. I didn't take very many pictures (and unfortunately, none of the classic Mini), but I'll post the few good ones from the park and give a link later.
  7. Just a passing morning shower out this way in Leesburg... there's definitely more rain over Fairfax County.
  8. So... not to put a damper on all the washing and waxing and everything... As mentioned in my last weather update, it's always subject to change... and it has changed a bit. There is now a chance of rain... There's a storm spinning down south over NC, with a more or less straight north movement to it at this time, that will be up this way tomorrow. The chance of rain is a bit higher here in the metro area than it is out west where we'll be, but there's still a chance. So a small shower possible... but not very much falling and/or not for very long, if anything. It should still be a nice day!
  9. The two major weather models I watch have finally come into agreement for Sunday, and it's going to be a great day! It will be warm, with temps in the upper 80s. There may be a bit of humidity in the air, but it shouldn't be too bad. There doesn't appear to be any chance of rain anymore, at least not while we will be there or on the road! Come out and enjoy part of the first weekend of summer with your fellow club members at a great historic landmark along the C&O Canal!
  10. I think WTOP/ABC7's forecast right now is probably the most accurate, comparing it to what I see in the weather models. This morning, they were saying that it would be sunny and warm - upper 80s - with a bit of humidity... a fitting forecast for the first official weekend of Summer. A chance of an isolated afternoon shower in the mountains, but they don't think it will be significant. Keep in mind, weather forecasting isn't an exact science, so it's still subject to change between now and then... but right now it looks good for the trip!
  11. One week to go! There are a couple of you that have posted saying you're going, but haven't RSVPed at the top yet. Make sure to do so, so there is a more accurate count of how many cars to expect!
  12. It was a beautiful day... we had lots of fun watching lots of cars on the track! Even saw a couple of MINIs during the various High Performance Driving Events on the main circuit. Many nice cars on display, some for vendors, some not. Lots of walking... the best place to watch cars on the main circuit is from the paddock area, definitely! Nice concession stand with no significant line, plenty of covered areas to hang out under, a nice stand at pit exit to watch the cars as they come out of the final turn and fly towards start/finish... In the end, I didn't make it long enough to watch the karting event, but I'm sure Tyler and the team did well! Hopefully we beat those PTuning guys!
  13. There's a beautiful day on tap for tomorrow! Sunny, high temps in the low 80s... don't forget sunscreen!
  14. Bump, to put it back on the first page so it's easily found.
  15. He posted it... see the first post. It's 381!
  16. Sounds good to me... Address: 915 Edwards Ferry Rd, Leesburg VA 20176 Coming from the Dulles Greenway or VA-7 West, take the exit for US-15 North toward Frederick MD (from the Greenway, it will also be labeled VA-7 East). After passing the light at the Outlet Mall, you'll make a left at the next light onto Edwards Ferry Rd. Sheetz is on the left.
  17. We could either meet at the Outlet Mall parking lot, or one light further north at the Target/Costco parking lot. Target/Costco lot has a Chick-fil-a as well for those that want a bite to eat, and the Costco gas station has cheap gas if anyone needs a fill-up (and has a Costco membership). Also Sunoco, Exxon, and Sheetz gas stations nearby across streets, and McD's next to Sheetz. Outlet Mall lot is at: 241 Fort Evans Rd NE, Leesburg VA 20176 Target/Costco lot is at: 1200 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg VA 20176
  18. Having never been to Summit Point before, any chance I can meet someone somewhere along the way? I live in Leesburg, so I'm guessing it's likely that someone will be passing near or through here to get there. Thanks!
  19. There's also a gas station in front of the store we'll be stopping at in Winchester...
  20. That's certainly one way to upgrade the brakes... and nearly everything else too! Welcome to the club!
  21. Found a nice afternoon this past week, and after a wash, here are a couple of pictures...
  22. Hello! Picked up a new-to-me 2009 MCS last week, and loving the car! Moved up from a Honda CR-Z... a nice and sporty car, but not enough get-up-and-go to it, and nowhere near the additional features that a MINI has! More details... 2009 MCS, 52k miles, Dark Silver ext., Black roof, Grey/Carbon Black interior, Bluetooth and USB, Cold Weather and Premium packages. Will try to make it to this coming weekend's Meet and Greet at Passport!
