  2. https://rosnerauto.com/used/MINI/2011-MINI-Cooper+S-66bf30f50a0a006443dad0e2993d1cd7.htm There's my old mini if someone wants to go buy it
  3. So a few weeks ago I said goodbye to my MINI It was a sad day...and to make a long story short my extended warranty had ran out and it seemed to be one expensive problem after the other toward the end. At only 75k miles it became more than I was willing to invest. I already miss my MINI! Even though over the past 2 years I've never actually made it out to an event...you guys have been great and extremely friendly! KEEP MOTORING!! :motor: Maybe one day i'll be back I traded in for a Toyota P.S. I found the OEM antenna that went with it if anyone wants it for free!
  4. Good to know! Thanks!
  5. Probably be beneficial just to look into an extended warranty.. Buy that and use that for clutch and bushings.. Anyone know if extended warranties cover things that have already broke?
  6. It was the alt... MOS came back and said they'll cover the alternator and battery in goodwill. But then proceeded to say that I'll need a new clutch soon and I need new control arm bushings lol. God.
  7. MOS gave me a general quote for alternator and battery if that's what it ends up being.
  8. Out of warranty I've been quoted ballpark $1400 from both a local shop and MOS. Yikes. To clarify what happened: Yesterday morning she started just fine (been a little slow to turn over lately) drove it to get emissions done, they noticed it turned over slow as well. Did a battery test and told me I'll need a new one soon. Came home parked for a few hours - tried to start and then nothing. AAA gave me a jump, I drove it 7 miles to a shop to have the battery replaced. Then shop turned around and said alternator. Then this afternoon I noticed when they put my car on a flat bed they started it without a jump, again later I was able to start it and drive it through the parking lot into the service bay. No it sits and I wait for diagnostics to come back from MOS.
  9. Hi all, Any recommendations on where I should take my MINI to get a new alternator :banghead: My battery died this afternoon and needed a jump to get it to the shop. I thought, oh it just needs a new battery..Nope, guess not! It's at Advanced Automotive in Chantilly right now sitting until I decide what to do next. I think I trust them when they say it needs an alternator.. Seems surprising to me since it's a 2011. When, I called MOS they recommended I have it taken there so I can have them look at it... seems kind of silly to me. But they did entice me some however with the willingness to advocate to MINI USA for me about requesting some goodwill toward the repair... My extended warranty ran out just 2500 miles ago :banghead: I guess it would make the most sense to bring it there? Anyone else have any lucky with trying to get MINI USA to pay for anything at all out of warranty?
  10. Just prayers or comforting thoughts. Many many thanks to everyone.
  11. Thank you for such kind words. So sorry to hear about Dino. It feels awkward and uncomfortable asking for prayers or donations...It's tough.. But, It is comforting to know that there are kind people in the community who care.
  12. Your generosity brings me to tears. Thank you for your condolences and donations. God bless.
  13. On Monday night my grandmothers house caught fire, trapped inside was my sisters father and a special person to me. With his death and the wreckage of a house fire (http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/1-Dead-2-Injured-in-Fairfax-County-House-Fire-285924631.html) leaves a heavy financial burden on my family. I must humbly ask... If anyone is are able to spare just a dollar to help with funeral costs, our family would be forever grateful. http://www.gofundme.com/j2p56s
  14. Just saw Hillary on 495E!
  15. To sort of piggy back off of this thread... and to try and make long story short. The reset function on my onboard computer is not responding *scratches head*... I had brakes/rotors and sensor recently replaced on R56 (with the help of private individual, not dealership)... Front brake sensor light recently came on after turning off (post-new brakes) and I followed MiniMania's instructions online on how to reset it. It reset successfully and stayed off for a while... But as of yesterday it's on again and following those same instructions it doesn't seem to want to reset or go away... Any insight? Brakes feel solid.

    MTTB6 - Lunch

I didn't make it out to the parade caravan today but I was just at kilroys and didn't see any MINIs
  17. I'll be there tomorrow! Thought I had a walkie but looks like it's broken
  18. I used to work at MOS back in 2008. The staff has changed a lot since then and many of the service advisors that I enjoyed working with have left... I can't comment much on the newer service advisors nor can I compare them to MOA because I've never taken my car there. But with that being said, the customer service there has always been pretty good. I've always been given a loaner and they've been very nice... But expensive? Yes. If it's warranty work then great, otherwise, I'd rather Mach V or someone do the work. MOS sales department was a pleasure to work with back in 2011 - Robin was great and very very friendly and Abraham is excellent as well; he even sent me and my MINI a Happy holidays card! Inquire about how to get a MINI vip card... they mailed me one about a year ago and I now get 15% off parts & labor at MOS
  19. I have a dash cam that's 1080p. I could probably record a lot of it!
  20. Oh no! I missed the shirt deadline
  21. DB R53 license plate (I think) @ Trader Joes in Centreville with white roof and detroit tuned sticker; Nice MINI!
  22. Hi Stephatron!!! That was me :-) admittedly I'm not on the forum as much as I'd like to be! But still try and hand out DCMM cards when I can! I'm Jonathan btw & olive was pleased to meet cha'
  23. Saw Ali on 395 S yesterdsy!!! Ali you were definetly the highlight of my commute
  24. Thanks all!! Mini of sterling quoted me 1200 if I need everything; sensors, rotators, pad. I'm a VIP service member there as well so I would get an addition 20% off. Rounding it down to around 1k. I guess 1k is a lot more reasonable. However, I'll be giving Mach V and P Tuning a call today. Thanks for everyone's input, very very much appreciated.
  25. Okay so my mini indicated that it's time for brakes this weekend ?? I thought I would get a quote from somewhere other than the dealer first thinking this would be cheaper. However, virginia tire and auto just quoted me 1,567.17!!!! Is this how much I should expect to spend on brakes? I just might collapse with anxiety ? Any suggestions on where I should take her?
