  1. I had fun out there yesterday, but didn't do anywhere near as good as I wanted... grrr.. Sunday night, I was staring at the car thinking "I didn't change a damned thing over the winter. I should do something..." So I yanked off the back tires and set the rear swaybar to full stiff... Not my brightest move, since on course the car just didn't want to settle in the transitions... It'll be back to last season's settings before this Saturday

The course was great though, and I'm happy that we didn't have to deal with the temperatures being too cold..

    :motor:

Yeah, the course flowed really well! I watched some peoples videos from the weekend and it really highlighted how much over braking I was doing! :stupid:

  2. Waldorf is definitely the following day, Sunday 4/24. I registered for it.

Guess it would be appropriate to list the events:

    WDCR-SCCA.org #1 - FedEx Field - Saturday, April 23, 7:30am-3:30pm

    AutocrossersInc.com #1 - Blue Crabs Stadium, Waldorf - Sunday, April 24, 8:00am-12pm

Oh ok, that's autocrossers inc. That is a different club than what I am talking about. Autocrossers inc is another one of the local driving clubs. It is run similar to SCCA, uses their classing.

I will be running at Waldorf with Capital Driving Club on April 30th. All cars a classed based on weight, tires, and HP.

    :motor:

  3. Your class of three looks tight with less than a second delta. D-Street was nine WRXs and Mimi. Times ranged 10 seconds. I was just barely next to last and 3 seconds behind the previous guy. I know places I could have pushed it more, but it's hard to remember realtime where it's feasible to gun it. I'll be at Saturday's and will probably go try Waldorf for the first time the next day. You know anything of that, Tyler?

Our class is tight, but all of us are about 3 seconds off of where we should be. We should be comparable to SM and SSP, but both classes destroyed us.

I'll be at the FedEx race on the 23rd, I believe the waldorf event is the following weekend on April 30th. I plan on running that event as well. It is a fun location and a great group to run with. A bit more laid back and more runs.

  4. I did horrible, but the car does feel better. I just need to knock the rust off the driver. Also, the times handed to me and on the display board don't match the ones that were posted online. I saw Lt.Dan's runs and he looked pretty great out there. How did you do Chris?

  5. Hi everyone. Needed to replace my 2008 Lexus IS250 with 130k weary miles, and found a good deal in Rockville on a 2013 MINI Cooper S Roadster with only 8700 miles. Makes parking easier on DC street-side, and it was a lot more nimble yet fierce in the FedEx Field Autocross classes I already took it to this past weekend.

Not sure if these links will work, but I want to show off :)

Awesome and Welcome! It will be nice to see a roadster at FedEx! See you there (black exige).

  6. Hello DCMM Fam,

SO...with MOTD right around the corner i'm in a holding pattern with my future suspension setup. Right now I'm on stock setup on my 06 MCS. I ordered a set of H&R performance/lower springs a few months back, but never made it around to installing them. Well, going with what I thought was going to be definitive suspension setup of BC coilovers, i was going to bring the Springs to MOTD and put them up for sale. Well, talking with our good buddies at PTuning (and taking into consideration DC and Baltimore lack of smooth roads) i'm having second thoughts about going the coilover route.

I plan on enjoying track days in this car and of course the occasional spirited drive. Just curious what any of you all think or advise from personal experience.

Thanks in advance for insight :top:

    Ross

If you are just doing track days and not actually competing, then springs will probably fine. Just a quality adjustable strut (koni yellows) that will allow you to play with damping.

If you change your mind and plan regularly competing in autoX or Time trials, then you might want to think about a more adjustable set up. Suspension tuning is black magic anyways, so unless you get a lot of track time, you will probably never find the perfect settings.

  7. This Saturday the National Capital Chapter of BMWCCA is holding a cars and coffee event at BMW of Sterling! I'm planning on going, and think it would be cool if we could get a few more MINI's up there!

    Anybody else want to go?

I'd love to! but I already committed myself to help our fearless leader to move that day. It can't come soon enough either, I'm tired of hearing her talk about it!:tongue:

  8. Tyler and I are partnering up to offer photography at the Dragon. He'll be doing his amazing rolling shots and I'll be on vendor row creating custom fine art of your MINI.

If you're interested in booking with either one of us just send a PM

    Thanks Ali!

As always DCMM members will get discounted. Pricing for the event is $200, DCMM members will only pay $175. This covers at least 2 photos and 1 print. Space is limited!

  9. Anyone doing any mods to their car in anticipation for the dragon? New brakes, tires, suspension?? Post up!

Sara should have her short shifter installed in the next month or so, and maybe a sway bar or exhaust.

I have a whole bunch of stuff, but I recently just ordered my tires! Maxxis RC1 245/15 and 275/17.

Yes.. this warm weather has given me dragon brain.

  10. Here is the down low from my source.

"If the part was replaced under any factory paid vehicle warranty (first 4 years/50k miles) or CPO warranty, the warranty on the part ends with the vehicle warranty.

If the part is replaced under parts warranty, so if a customer paid for the repair initially, and the replaced component fails within the 2 year warranty period, the warranty on the part will end 2 years from the initial replacement."

    So not good news sorry

Wow, way to go MINI :banghead:

Is this the same part?? $199 from ECS, I'm assuming there is more to this or something different, that's a long way off from $1200.

The peak bloom predictions are out (March 31st - April 4th). There are a few locations to get a nice rig shot of your car, the blossoms, a DC land mark, and sun rise!

Due to crowds this will have to be an early morning shoot, plan on meeting before sunrise to compose the shot and attach the rig. This will also only be a single angle shot, so the price will be reduced to reflect that.
