  1. A good, if damp, M&G yesterday at MINI of Sterling. There were a few new members. Listen to me, only 4 months in and referring to others as new. I had mentioned to Quitta and Laura seeing a reference to a personalized billboard campaign for MINI in select cities. Here is an article: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2007/01/talking_billboa/ Pretty cool.
  2. I completely agree and thank you for starting one.
  3. Hi, my name is Bert, and this is Ernie, and I am a MINIac! Just found this site, "You Know You're a MINIac When... http://www.sjbaker.org/telamom/you_know_when.html I love some of these.
  4. Ali, congrats. but don't over do it. TGGRRR is out of practice and could pull something. (Heaven forbid!)
  5. Oh...right. Who is bringing the Kool-aid to the M&G tomorrow? Not that he'll need it. He seems to be one of us already. :stupid:
  6. Plasti-dip? Oh boy, can't wait for Celia to see this, she will get on her soap box. They do look really good. I've got to see those close up. Great job and nice pics.
  7. Let the exclamation points fly!!!! Believe me, we get your joy and happiness! We have all been there, I'm still there. My wife and daughters can't believe how much happiness a little car has brought me. I have even called my wife, while sitting at a dead stop in the evening "rush hour" on the American Legion Bridge, to exclaim that I love my car and don't care about the rush hour. She is convinced that I am a total MINIac and that we are all members of a MINI cult. I did notice her smile a few times while on MTTS 2012 in Charlotte (at the Music Factory and the speedway) and then again when I allowed her to drive Ernie about 200 miles heading home. As Will, or his friend, stated... embrace the happiness! Other people, even other MINI owners that don't wave, just won't understand. They only think that they bought a car. They just don't get it. Save the wave! :wavey:
  8. Michael, Congratulations! :congrats: Enjoy the coming days but take your time getting to know that car, it is a rocket so hold on. Have fun. Yep, Celia (Stickrs) is the DCMM and C3M greeter at MINI of MoCo. :wavey:
  9. It was just a wish, and I don't want to go for a Countryman. I too have had a number of hatchbacks, I guess I just like the view. I know, I should be looking forward more often but you have to check out the people that you are passing.
  10. I know that there are arguments either way and pros and cons but the clubman barn doors turned me away from the clubman. I like the exterior look and the functionality but I don't like the posts that it puts in the middle of the view for the rear view mirror. I would like to see a clubman with a hatchback.
  11. My mistake.... your Roadster... which will stand out even more. Cool! It will be even easier for me to spot you as you blow through the Falls and River intersection. :motor:
  12. +1 on that. You have to have a good amount of liquid to get the grit off first. What about gift certificates or pre-paid tokens for the nearest car wash that doesn't have brushes or those long ugly curtain things, hopefully a self pressure wand wash if available?
  13. Ernie blends in a little, being British Racing Green, but your coupe will be easy to spot. Remember to wave, so many people just don't get it. Watch out for those MoCo speed cameras... it is difficult to keep these little rockets at or below 30 mph.
  14. Michael, I've been to and through Poolesville many times. I'm in Potomac and cut through there sometimes on my way to WV or coming back from crossing at Point of Rocks.
  15. Ernie and Obsessive (John's Coupe) came in on the same boat. I know that John went up to Baltimore to watch them off load. I believe that the ship came in on a Tuesday or Wednesday and it was delivered to MINI of MoCo on Friday. I'm told that was a fast delivery but what do I know. If it came in today he could have it by Wednesday or later. Good Luck and enjoy the rocket ship.

Targets! COOL! I like the plan. And the sound part is great. I'm a silent but deadly bow and arrow guy myself but my mother did teach me to be a decent shot with a .22, .38, .45, shot gun, and a few other things. (Yes, my Mom, she is a former NYPD officer).
  17. Okay, now I get it. Even though I only had one pass on the Dragon on Friday, and there was a lot of debris on the sides of the road from the storm the night before, and they were still trying to recover the motorcyclist that went off the road, and the power was still out at Deal's Gap, I get it. It is too bad that 2014 is the next MOTD that I'll be able to attend.
  18. Welcome, welcome. You are going to LOVE it. I took delivery of Ernie on April 6th so I'm still a newbie myself, even though my wife thinks I am an all out MINIac. Just 3 months in and I've already been on 4 runs and over 1,000 miles on MTTS 2012 from July 4th through yesterday (including the Dragon). I remember the anticipation of tracking the build, transport, ship crossing, and delivery and waiting is not easy. It will be worth it. Hope to meet you soon. And... take you time with the name. Will is ahead of you on Ali's list to name his MINI so you have a buffer.

    Wanted

Craig, It is yours, no cost. You have been a great help to me on a number of things. I hope to be at the next M&G and I'll bring it. How much chain do you want/need? I might be able to help you there too. I've got some old stuff in my shop. As for welders and torches... I got rid of those a few years ago. Sorry, I didn't have a need any longer and rent one if I need one.

Correction... it is 6" x 8-1/8" x 1-1/4" and weighs a little. It might have been from my brother's torch practicing or blacksmithing days. Since it was definitely cut with a torch.

I've got a piece of scrap plate steel about 6" x 5" x 1" that is yours if you want it. I don't even remember where I picked it up. :hmmmm:
  22. Jake and Nigel, Welcome. I too think the gold wheels look great on Nigel. Hope to meet you soon at a M&G. We'll like it when join with their MINIs already named. Right Ali?
