  1. I really enjoy reading the posts and seeing the work everyone is doing to their ride. I found this T-shirt over the weekend and I think it's very applicable to many of us! I look forward to seeing Stanley with the blacked out hood scoop, I've been so tempted to to that to Kooper but I'm worried that it'll be too much. Since I pulled the "guts" out of the hardly functional scoop, I do need to do something to the inside of it though.
  2. Quitta, Are these friends of yours kind of small or did you mean they also drive MINI's? Sorry, I had to!
  3. Jason, Done. The blue will be just fine in KOOPER. Want to do the install next weekend?
  4. Jason, Wanna see if it'll fit in a 2nd Gen?
  5. Cameroon - give me a shout if you'd like to get together to blackout your beltline chrome. I've got the tape and I have two cans of plasti-dip. The greatest thing about both is that you can just peel it off if you don't like it. MiniMUM, here's you go, Kooper with his new wheels!
  6. I was over on Ft. Belvoir Wednesday afternoon and I counted 5 MINI's on base. Two were parked but the other three didn't return waves... Seeing more and more of our cousin's around town these days though!
  7. That's makes it a great deal for you then! runflats and non-runflat All Season performance tires all without changing the "look". Even better, the Clubman will be up here and they'll fit right in the back for the drive back to Atlanta!
  8. Looking for good all-season tires and nice OEM wheels in a package that won't break the bank? On Thursday, I'll be taking off a set of OEM 16" S-Winder wheels that have no curb rash or other defects. They have OEM TPMS sensors installed. The tires are Kumho Ecsta ASX's in 205/45R-16 and about 1,500 miles on them. The tires were put on the car the weekend before the Cumberland run last month. I'll post pictures of all four wheels/tires on Saturday after I wash them and make 'em all pretty and clean. My starting asking price is $500 for the entire set and I can meet to deliver or deliver them to somewhere within a reasonable distance. Craig
  9. Mike, Welcome to the area and it'll be great to have you with the group. I wish I could help with your questions but I live on the wrong side of town! Craig
  10. Just my .02 on the possibility of a police escort... Heck Yeah! Get "5-0" out there with us! If not, it sure would be nice to have them assist us all with getting out of the parking lot and through the intersections to the beltway and then, they can
  11. There was a suggestion that everyone could fly an American flag. The link below is to a site that has U.S. Flags, service flags and the POW/MIA flag. The U.S. Flag is $1.95 and that includes the nylon window base. http://www.united-states-flag.c
  12. I do like the VW (Drop top New Beetle, Turbo, GLS) because it gives me three ways to shift. Fully automatic (with a "kickdown" as well), the "Sport" option that will hold shifts longer and then the fully manual but without paddles. Like Edge, I don't care much for automatic transmissions but, they do have their place, their time and their "people". I'd be interested in driving one of these newer versions so if there's a chance, I'd be willing to toss my keys to someone and we can "chase" each other down the road just to experience the difference - I promise I'll behave! Edge, you'll have make your amends to the deity of your choice for the horrible things you said above...
  13. Adner, Wish I could help but my VW (with a 6spd auto) doesn't do that and KOOPER is a manual tranny.
  14. Edge said it! All of my off-road "buddies" made fun of me when I showed up in my CJ-7 with the automatic tranny. One trip out to the sand dunes and they stopped laughing! We all head up Patton Hill and around the 1/2 way point, they hit the clutch to downshift and the sand sucked them to a halt. I just whacked the old B&M shifter and kept going. I waited at the top of the hill while they rolled back down and repeated the process. At the end of the day, we towed one of them home with a fried clutch and I didn't have to take grief from them ever again... As long as you like it, you know what it does or doesn't do, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks unless they are willing to take over your payments.
  15. Not having the auto, I'd have to guess that there's an automatic kickdown feature. My "reasoning" would be that if someone were in a situation where they need to move quick and in a panic, they forget to downshift, they push the loud pedal to the floor and the ECU will drop the tranny to the "right" gear and away you go! Kinda like Mr. Toad's wild ride.... I've only driven one MINI and it was 1st Gen "Just a MINI" and that convinced me that the manual was the way to go. I hope the GETRAG and the MCS does better.
  16. I thought I'd post a panoramic from the Cumberland run.
  17. Hey, if you guys had to recommend a place to take a DSLR for periodic maintenance, where would it be? Keep in mind I'd rather not have to drive to Baltimore though! I live in NOVA. I've got a Nikon D-40X that I really, really enjoy shooting with and I'm looking at upgrading to another Nikon but I seem to spend all of my allowance on "KOOPER" lately. OH, my first camera was a 127 as well but I don't recall the brand or anything else. My first "real" camera was a Minolta SRT-101 and later, I went with another Minolta and I don't remember the model number "S-7 something) that had an all black body and I was able to keep my glass. My first DSLR was a Canon EOS Rebel that shot some nice pics. I think I'm a Nikon fan now though. What do you guys use for your workflow management and photo editing? I'm all Mac for computers and I have CS3 on my iMac and Photoshop Elements 6 (upgrading to 8 when it's on the streets). I use iPhoto for connectivity as it's friendlier than Photoshop but if 8.0 delivers as promised, I'll go with it for end to end processing. Tks!
  18. I've got a couple of others that I'm working on. Hope everyone enjoys them. If you'd like the full-size, printable versions, PM me and I can email them or we can arrange something. The panoramics will range anywhere from 12-150MB in size, the singles
  19. Much like Ed, I dropped the RF's and replaced the sway bar (I went with the 22mm NM Engineering model) that's set at medium. I also put in the Mach V springs to lower it just a bit and I don't notice that I have that kind of hop. On this past Sundays' event, there were a few times where I was sure I was at the extreme top of my suspension travel and then I came back to earth gently. Tweaking the tire pressure may help but I just can't help but think that the RF's are going to ride about the same regardless of their air pressure. Give me a shout sometime, you are welcome to take KOOPER for a test drive to see the difference. We are in Annandale so that might be a bit too far for you. Craig
  20. Tom, As a fellow LB MCS driver, welcome! Not sure about the eccentric part, I tend to think we are all pretty "normal" in the group. We just happen to enjoy the heck out of small, well made auto's that are a thrill to drive. Look forward to meeting you at an event soon! Craig
