  1. They were probably driving a Toyota.
  2. Dan, does the tire mount/balance discount apply to non-MINI's as well? Tks, Craig
  3. Violet, all that chrome hurt my eyes to look at the picture! Are you sure you don't want to try a Joey Mod on it??? Maybe we could do it in body color! Tone down that front end shine just a bit! Carman - you should see the backs of my hands today! I have one thumb and 2 fingers without cuts and scrapes and the backs of my hands look like a lost a fight with a 6 toed, 5 legged cat!. Of course, it was all my fault, I could have "worked smarter" on that project. Craig
  4. Very nice! They don't make it for the 2nd Gen but I've been wondering if a black scoop would be too much. Your pics tell me that it'll be just fine - thanks Jay!
  5. +1 for the Vortex 1
  6. I did some research on that issue before I lowered KOOPER. Seems most folks who had the problems had higher mileage when they lowered it. KOOPER only had about 6k when I did it and the shafts hadn't had much of an opportunity to wear any grooves in the shafts. I did have some vibration for a short period of time but after 1-2k, they went away and haven't had any problems since. I'll hit 13k before the end of the month.
  7. Jason, Looks great! Ya gotta get rid of those darn side reflectors! I'll see if I can find the kit that I used to "delete" mine. They just don't fit with your color scheme. The new stance looks great though!
  8. Taken. Thanks everyone.
  9. I would say SOLD but for what I asked, I have to say TAKEN! Thank you everyone! Here's your chance to get a set of wheels for your winter tires - even though winter is nearing it's end... Don't pass up the opportunity! These are free to a good home because I simply don't have storage for them. The tires aren't the greatest in the world but they worked just fine for a couple of weeks while I waited on my new wheels/tires to be come in. If you are interested, let me know! Craig
  10. Cool. I'm fine with trash talk (giving and taking). I'm just looking forward to MOTD and having a great weekend! Craig
  11. Okay, I didn't make it for the M&G, I was under KOOPER doing some work. Anyone wanna share this background via PM or email or something? It's always good to know the history of things.
  12. Violet, Did the kit come with directions? I'm willing to jump into it if you want to get your hands dirty with it. Craig
  13. Ft. Lauderdale... They have salt and sand just like we do here! Only it's saltwater on the sandy white beaches with sunshine!:banghead:
  14. Okay folks, we've got enough people interested so I've asked Jan for a primary and a secondary date for a tuning session. As soon as he gets back to me, I'll make sure the dates work for Dan at Mach V and I'll keep everyone posted. Start saving your milk money boys and girls!:motor:
  15. I was just talking to Mike a few days ago and he didn't mention going but I'm glad he is. Kooper is kind of a "showcase" for AC since a good bit of my exterior stuff is from him. My experience with him has been first rate.
  16. Dan, I second Jay's comment! My forced timing didn't work in my favor for this one!
  17. I'm down with Miami Saturday night! Guess I better hit the road early to stay out of the snow though! Agree with all, better to be safe 'cause an idiot like me would try to drive a lowered MCS in 2ft of snow!
  18. :top: I vote for Christmas on the 4th of July! Pretty safe from snow storms then! And I was looking forward to that party as a warm up to the Super Bowl. Geaux Who Dats!
  19. The prices I posted on the Poll are those that I got directly from Jan yesterday. My guess is that the price is coming down a bit due to supply/demand. As I mentioned, there's still the cost of the Dyno and I'll be darned if I didn't forget to ask Dan about that when I picked Kooper up from the shop today. The date will depend upon Jan's schedule but I'm with all of you and I want to get it done before MOTD. If I can't get this set up and done in time, Helix in Philly is setting up a tune day in late March or early April. You may want to get your name on their list as a back up. Tks, Craig
  20. Jay, let me know if you find something good. I want a 2 way alarm and I don't need remote start or anything. Not easy to find. Tks, Craig
  21. For anyone who may be interested, I've gotten updated info on the RMW tunes by Jan. There are lots of posts on North American Motoring about the results of Jan's work. You can have an RMW tune done on your MINI that has been modified or a bone stock MINI to take advantage of what our little sports cars can do. Of course, with some mods, the benefits gained will be greater. In addition to the cost for the tune, there is a fee for the use of the dyno (yes, the car is run on the dyno to find out exactly what you've gotten for your $$$). I forgot to ask Dan what their dyno rates are but if I remember the cost when I checked before, it's around 100 and hour and a tune will require approximately 1 hour on the dyno. These are custom tunes, set up for your car with your mods, not a "canned" tune that is just loaded on the ECU of every other R53 or R56 out there. Again, if you are interested in getting more out of your MINI, please browse through the posts on NAM to see what's been written and if you would like to have this work done, please let me know on the poll. We need a minimum of 8 cars to get Jan to come out and there is no maximum number. Oh, the prices on the tune will make us happy that we drive MINI's and not some other cars that Jan works on... Cost of the custom RMW tune (provided by Jan on Monday, 1 February 2010) R53s $350 R56 $600 Porsche 996 turbos $1500 Porsche 997s NA $1000 BMW 135/335i $900
  22. Would have to agree with the previous post. I went up to a 215/45R-16 with no problems and then a 225/45R-17 and I found that I had some rubbing in the rear of the wheel well. I've had a very good experience with the Kumho Ecsta ASX which is a high performance, all-season tire and I'll soon be putting those back on after my recent "misadventure" and you can't really beat the price.
  23. Please take a moment to hit the poll so I can keep tabs of who is interested. http://dcmetrominis.org/forum/topic/677-poll-rmw-remote-tune I'll see if I can get some $$ info. Tks, Craig
  24. I second that on the quality and price for their work!
  25. I'm not a big fan of 15k between oil changes, especially the initial so I paid for an oil change "out of cycle" at PMoA. Seems they charged $90 and change. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes.
