  1. Yup, I'm coming to the picnic - that'd be awesome, I'll totally take you up on it!
  2. Hello all, I come seeking guidance and a driveway My break-in period is well over with and I'd like to do an oil change. Unfortunately, I live in Arlington and have no place to actually do the oil change. Also, this will be the first time I've personally change the oil in any car, let alone a Mini. I have the oil, filter and most of the tools (I think I just need to pick up a 1/2" extension and drain pan w/ lid for transport to recycling). I do not have a jack or jack stands right now, but AutoZone's got a Duralast 2 ton jack + 2 stands for $40 which I could get easily enough. So is there anyone who'd be willing to loan me their driveway and expertise? I've no problem traveling and can bring a beverage or something else of your choice
  3. Heh, in the past couple days I switched my planned tires from the RE760s to the Z1 Star specs also. In my case it was a decision to go for performance over tire life, but if the RE760s develop flat spots that's a good thing to know. Car and Driver's August 2009 edition has a tire comparison test for summer tires under $140 and the Z1 Star Specs came out on top. The RE760s were 4th, due (I would guess) to having a longer life and quieter ride. I'd likely still be buying them if I hadn't been tempted away to get some Extreme summer tires.
  4. Well, I've got the DCMM cling in the back and the Cherry Run cling on the driver's side rear window right now. Hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks I'll have some white Team Dynamic Pro Race wheels, and then some time this fall I'll be adding some custom stripes but until those things happen just the colors Oh, and it's an R56 S.
  5. Don't worry, you'll get some wave backs and in the meantime, maybe you'll educate some other Mini drivers I'll keep an eye out when I'm down around Springfield, and if you are up in the Shirlington area keep your eye out for a Laser blue w/ white roof & white wheels... giving you a description of me wouldn't help though. I'm not distinguishable Personally it seems like I get more waves when I'm just cruising down the GW parkway on a nice day.
  6. Heh, bet you could fit it almost looks like it'd fit in the bed!
  7. Looks like most everyone got their pics up already, but here are a few more panorama-style images. Hangin' on the Curves & Pickin' the Cherries I'm
  8. That was an awesome run and great to see so many Mini's at once! Chris, thanks for organizing the run and everything else. Thanks to the sweepers for making sure we all made it. I've got some pics to put up later, but since I tried to get some panoram
  9. Why not, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I'm planning on a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport's next month. Going by the survey results over at Tire Rack, the KDW2's have a little edge in performance over the RE760s but are loud.
  10. I hope it gets enough interest and participation that you do it again - I really wanted to take part. All my fault though, I didn't have it put on my calendar when family came calling
  11. Actually there seemed to be a pretty good turnout (though I say that only having been able to make it to two). Saw a number of new members and some potential new Mini owners/members. The MoS staff seemed to be circulating a good bit and chatting with me
  12. Wish I could make the run, but that whole leaving here by 7:30 tomorrow morning just isn't going to work
  13. How soon do you need to know for the reservation count (I may have a +1)?
  14. Finally will be able to make one of these - I think the last one I was able to get to was all the way back in December or January! At least this time I'll actually have my car
  15. Thanks for the offer, I've got a slot lined up for Monday (at least as long as it isn't
  16. I'd guess it's cause there's been a large influx of people who just have it as a car - they don't know any of the etiquette. I try to wave, but sometimes I'm distracted with the driving part
  17. Thanks Bill, was an awesome run The obligatory photo from the dam... Oh, and in case anyone needs the full size version of that the couple photos I
  18. I'll be there rain or shine. Besides, I like thunderstorms (if that holds). Last weekend it was supposed to rain most of the time and instead it was sunny!
  19. Maxicooper, thanks for posting the Wegman's address (and to yellowminiaz for asking). I'd have ended up out at the Sterling Wegmans!
  20. I've got an extra that I can loan you if needed, sure.
  21. Saw Edge's car out at MoS today. I think they might have it more days out of the week than he does
  22. Nice shots, definitely wish I could have been there. How'd the weather hold out?
