  1. I got you covered on 1, 2 (I may have to ask some help with finding him), 3, 4, 5 (I HAVE NEVER DONE IT!!!!!!!!), 6, 7, 8 (I know Chad is helping out big time and I have volunteered to help him out too with whatever he needs), 10.

    Overachiever, you got it!

LOL, me... an over achiever...yeah right. This is just my normal Dragon stuff.

Joey has short blond, curly hair, about 5'"9 or so, slender, and can be found at the cafe sometimes and is definitely at the welcome and farewell dinners. He is the sweetest guy and we always have a big gab fest every year.

Girl, you MUST do the Skyway!

  2. Since I won't be there, I'm wondering if I could ask you guys to do the following favors for me:

    1. Hug all my friends.

    2. Hug Joey( Blond gay guy who's head of food services)

    3. Eat at least one BLT from the Mountain Cafe

    4. Eat a grilled cheese from the restaurant at Deal's Gap

    5. Drive the Cherohala..

    6. Have at least one campfire in front of the DCMM cabin.

    7. If it rains, take a nap.

    8. Take LOTS of pictures, especially at the spaghetti dinner. Post them when you can.

    9. Help Barry if and when he needs it.

    10. Be safe.

    There might be more, later...

  3. Since I can't make it this year, I need someone to volunteer to take the MOTD badges down.

I'll pick them up from the folks who make them. That's generally on the Thursday or Friday before I'd normally head out. I could meet the volunteer halfway, or if you're really a star, you could come to my house to get them.

The box is about 15 -18 inches square and weighs about 15 pounds. Once I have a volunteer, it'll be up to you to contact Barry Patascher about delivery into his hands.

Obviously, I need someone who'll be arriving early at Fontana, preferably Sunday and no later than Monday.

Please let me know by posting here.

  5. CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST.

    So, here's the plan:

    When: March 1st 12 noon

Where: My house. If you plan to help out, msg. me for my address. I live just 10 minutes north of Annapolis.

What: Check the posted list for items to bring.

Why: Given the fact that this organization doesn't have weekend hours, donated have to be delivered during the week. I have the time, so I'll make the delivery. Also, it makes no sense to bring the items to one place, then I'd have to take them back home. So, I'm just eliminating a step, so to speak.

Who: As many as possible so we have a lot of goods to donate. If I have to make 2 delivery trips, so be it.

There are several restaurants very close by that could take a group. I'll just need to know how many folks.

I hope to see a lot of stuff, and some folks I haven't seen in a while.

  6. You might want to consider sending press releases to the 3 TV stations in the area as well, they might be interested in covering it...

Better yet, see if you can convince the PR person at Operation Second Chance to draft the release and send it out... They could probably do a better job and get more interest than any of us could... Unless we have a PR person in the club...

I think we alerted the TV stations for the 1st one if I remember correctly (which I may not). All 3 were a no show..

  7. Folks, I’ve had a wonderful 4 years with my 2009 S but circumstances dictate that I be (hopefully temporarily) MINI-less. I’ve been an occasional lurker on this forum and have even joined in a hanging-the-corners–picking-the-cherries guest ride. It’s a bit cliché perhaps and corny to say that the MINI brand is a special car and attracts special people. But really this car was a blast to own and drive and like the Honda commercials from the 60s said, ‘you meet the nicest people on a’ (MINI). It rarely failed to put a smile on my face every time I got in it, even when I was just doing daily commutes. I still get compliments and thumbs up from people of all ages, from the very young to the very life experienced!

I’m heading up to Watkins Glen again this year so perhaps I’ll bump into someone from this forum to say hello. Although the annual Vintage Gran Prix always brings out wonderful, wonderful people (and cars), I can’t help but wonder how rambunctious, unpretentious, fun, and friendly things will be with Mini as the featured marque. The Vintage Gran Prix is a super event hosted within a super venue of the Finger Lakes wine region of NY State. The past few years have seen a number of micro-breweries and distilleries pop up around the lakes, so it’s all very much, a pleasant, wine & cheese, beer, and spirits happening.

I’ve tried posting in the forum’s Marketplace with my logon/ID but I don’t seem to have the proper credentials to do so.

We'll be at WG too. Look for a DK silver '02 S with a gray tone Union Jack roof. MD plate: MY S.

    Paul and Katie
