  1. The weather's not going to be that great. However, I really really hope that won't stop folks from attending!

I'll be bringing Trader Joe's chocolate chip cookies which are yummy. I'll also be bringing farro with tomatoes and pesto as a side dish. Wh

  2. waiddaminnit...you guys are putting SeaFoam in the crankcase?????!! It's a gasoline additive....at least that's what it says on the label.

I've been using for a couple of years, but only in the gas tank.....one can, once a month.

I buy it by the case, tho' it's available by the single can as well. AutoZone and Pepboys carry it...

  3. Yeah, Doug Whalen is very well renowned in the MINI community for his shift knobs. They are very, very nice... and a whole bunch of people swear by them.

yup, we do! I've had mine for 4 years and still get compliments on it...You'll love yours, Craig, though they do get cold in the winter...

  4. well, it looks like my dream of having a MINI are on hold for however long. :( :(

I was going to get one, I REALLY wanted to do the MINI select financing because of the low payments. I REALLY don't want to have $400+ car payment. So I was ok with paying longer and more in the end.

But they ran my credit app and and they said I wasn't good enough.

The thing is, I have very good credit. (I signed up for a Identity guard credit thing) I just don't think I have enough credit. :(

I am so sad, I am in the depths of despair.

I've never had any kind of loan before. I was always done under my dad's name when I was in High school and I drove that car till it died.

I am heartbroken. I thought yesterday was going to be a good day too.

I know it will all probably work out in the end, but I am so disappointed right now.

Thanks for all your help guys.

see if you can get a low rate credit card, use it for 6 months to a year, paying it off completely each month. That might help you establish credit...

  5. Ok, so it was suggested that I come and join this forum and pose my question.

First off I want a MINI very badly. I posted my dilemma on NAM http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/coupe-talk-2007/190041-at-what-point-should-i-give-up.html#post3061367

That is the link to it, and I would appreciate any help that I could get.

For those that don't feel like reading it there, the short story is: I went to Passport of Alexandria to test drive a MINI, I told my MA that I did not want to buy that day at all. But I was VERY serious about getting a MINI so I would be back some other time when I was more ready. MY MA then proceeds to get his GM and they tell me that if I wanted to order a 2010 MINI I would HAVE to do it by the end of May, because once June hits they stop taking orders for 2010's and do inventory, then around July they can start taking orders for 2011's. So I "have" to order my MINI today if I want my dark silver automatic MINI cooper s with black wheels.

So I guess my question is if this is just a ploy to get me to buy NOW, and if anyone has any advice about maybe another dealer/MA I should talk to in the area. Anyone you may have had good dealings with.

If you read my thread on NAM, you can see what my situation is exactly.

Thanks a lot for any help that any of you may be able to give me. I very much look forward to motoring as soon as possible!( but not sooner than I'm ready for!

They ARE car salespeople after all, and work more for commissions rather than salary. Sounds like a ploy to me.

Take your time, get your financial ducks in a row...make sure you can afford the car, insurance, etc....

  6. Glad all the Dragon "virgins" had a good time. Now you guys know why we veterans gab about it so much!

Sorry I missed the caravan, but I had to get home ASAP as I have to leave for Pittsburgh tomorrow....blech....I have to drive our Subaru wagon. I'll be there 10 days or so, but will keep in touch on the computer...

  7. Since GPSes don't know about rock slides, may I suggest to newbies to the area, that you get an (gasp!) actual printed map for reference. I'll be using one, since the usual route for me isn't available.

Neither do printed maps. GPS with traffic I believe know road closures.

true about printed maps, but if you know where the rock slides are, you can plan accordingly...
