  1. The forecast has improved and while it will likely be overcast, there is now only a 10% of rain tomorrow morning!

As of today, there Ferry is still closed. The water is going down, so there is a possibility it will open tomorrow. Be sure to check their Facebook page. I will also post an update here.

I hope everyone makes it out tomorrow!!

  2. For anyone who is planning on taking the Ferry... you can't. It's been closed for the last 2 days due to high water. I don't anticipate that improving by Saturday. They have posted pictures on their Facebook page if anyone is interested in seeing how bad it is.

  3. I updated the event with the address for the meet up point before the parade.

Also, the weather is not looking good for Saturday. This is a "rain or shine" event, so the parade will go on even if it's raining. Should the town decide to reschedule (they won't) I'll let everyone know.

Fisher Ave/Rte 107 will be closed on Saturday. Below are directions to get to our meeting point.

If you are coming from the East (Not taking the Ferry): As you come into Poolesville, you will make a right onto Wootton Ave and then a left onto Kohlhoss. Then  you will make a left onto Cattail (be careful, it's hard to see and people drive way to fast on Cattail). Cattail will turn into Doctor Walling Road. After the stop sign, it is the second driveway on the right. I will have a balloon or something on the mailbox to make it obvious where you should go.

If you are coming from the Ferry:  You will turn left onto W. Willard Rd (It's across from the Liberty Gas Station). You will then make a left onto Wootton Ave. You will follow Wootton Ave until you get to Fisher Ave and you will then go straight across Fisher and follow the directions above.

If anyone wants to stick around and enjoy the Poolesville Day festivities after the parade, you will be able to park at my friend's house. It's a short walk to everything from there.

I will be providing a variety of breakfast beverages for the participants.

  4. I've received confirmation that our entry was accepted. I've updated the event details with the exact times we need to be there. I still need to find a place for us to meet to drive over together due to all of the road closures that day.

Wooo Hooo it's almost parade time

I still haven't gotten confirmation that we were accepted. I will follow up with them today!

I'm planning on decorating Gretchen as a race car. It's easy and I can do it ahead of time.

Please post the updated date when available, we are interested in this

There won't be any for a couple of weeks. It's Seneca Polo Club if you want to check it out. However, verify what you see on Facebook. They hadn't updated that there wasn't a match on Sunday and several people (not just us) came by. They are really nice and we ended up hanging out in the clubhouse for awhile and some of the other people that came went to the barn to pet the horses.

  8. Polo in Poolesville!

Please join us on Sunday, July 29 to watch a polo match at Seneca Polo Club in Poolesville.

The match starts at 10:30am and last one hour.

This is a really fun and laid back way to enjoy polo. If it’s your first time, there are plenty of friendly people to explain what is going on.

This is a tailgating event, so please bring whatever you would like to eat or drink. (Alcohol is allowed and somewhat encouraged). There is a pavilion with seating and real restrooms, however, it’s a good idea to bring your own chairs if you have them.

This is a very family friendly event! Kids are welcome! Dogs are welcome too, though there are other dogs and horses on the property, so please use your judgment.

Another thing to note, the road to get there is gravel, for about a mile. With all of the rain we’ve had it will be a little rough. If you really want to go and this is a deal breaker, please let me know. We can work something out.

    Seneca Polo Club

    20760 Whites Ferry Road

(It’s between Poolesville and Whites Ferry)

We will be heading to Cugini’s for lunch after!
