  1. I just wanted to share something that was really funny from my perspective. I know we made a big deal out of being ready to roll when the police showed up. So when they did I went to speak to the officer. I popped my head up to see if people were getting into their cars and there wasn't a person around and I heard the sweet rumbling of MINI motors ready to go.

You guys were amazing! I think next year we'll be able to get them back :congrats:

That's awesome! Maybe the ice is broken! Did they expect a payment for their time, or was it a freebie considering the cause?
  2. Good news for :bulldog: lovers! I called Kilroy's today and confirmed that dogs are welcome, as long as they stay in the enclosed tented area and not inside the actual restaurant. Susan and I are bringing Copper tomorrow. :top:

  3. I don't need new wheels and snow tires myself right now, but I want to put a vote of confidence in for the Michelin X-Ice tires.

2 years ago, approaching the winter of 2013, my "awesome in bad weather" MINI was in the body shop for a long, slow repair endured during a serious accident I suffered earlier that year. Since the accident happened, I was able to drive my old 1995 Mustang GT around all spring, summer & fall... expecting my MINI would be repaired by winter. Such was not the case. Faced with:

    • having to drive my Mustang all winter long (had it for 10 years prior to buying my MINI)...
    • stuck with summer tires on the car...
    • remembering just how bad it is in the snow, even with snow tires from 10-20 years ago...

I knew I had to buy a new set of snow tires for my Mustang, just to get through the winter while I continued to wait for my MINI to be repaired.

So I did a bunch of research, reading lots of reviews, including some winter tire round-ups...

...and I ended up buying a set of Michelin X-Ice Xi3 tires, which were some of the highest rated across all categories, and my Mustang needed every bit of help it could get. You see, V8 RWD cars without traction control, and with most of the weight of the car in the front make for terrible snow cars!

Well... these Michelin X-Ice tires were nothing short of AMAZING. They completely transformed the car in the snow... I have never felt so sure-footed & confident in my Mustang in the white stuff before... and I used to have dedicated snow tires on it in the late 90s & early 2000s, too!

They are fantastic snow tires. They will get you through almost anything, and will turn your MINI into a tank in the snow. :top:

  4.

    Harmon Kardon Factory amp $185
I don't need one myself, but that amp is valuable. They are very expensive to replace new (something like $600-$800). You should have no problems finding a buyer through various MINI parts Facebook groups, or via for sale forums on Motoring Alliance or North American Motoring.
  5. That awesome Mini/MINI angry birds combo on the flyer had to has won or at least placed. NO, what!?!?!?! inconceivable:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... Catalina was definitely robbed that year. The iMINI design was awesome - one of my all-time favorites, for sure.

EDIT: Oh wait, you were talking about a different one... your own. Oops. :)

  6. Ali - can you please find out if Wardel does colored tint?

Most important: I want 50% blue tint on the front windows of my MINI (replacing the damaged blue tint that I already have).

Less important: If they have it, green tint for my Mustang (35% for the back, 50% for the front - keeping it VA state legal) would be great. If not, I'll just stick with regular grey tint for it.

    Thanks!

Also - a few years back I created this handy FAQ here on DCMM for the tint laws... feel free to link to it in the thread, if you like:

  7. So the Brew Tasting (10 days ago :embarassed:) was a blast! However, we had way more brews than we could possibly consume with only 9 people. We did manage to sample 28 varieties though.

In any case, at the end of the event we all agreed to call that "Round 1" and we had to have another one soon - after all, we still have plenty left in Carl & Faith's fridge. I think we're looking at mid-October. I'll firm up the date with Carl and we'll post the Round 2 event soon.

Even if you missed this event, you ought to try to make it to the next one.

I have updated the spreadsheet in the first comment to show what we had in Round 1 and what still remains.

  8. If you're on the fence about coming because you don't have any new/interesting beer or cider to bring... come anyway! We have plenty of brew, more than the 9 currently RSVPed "Yeses" (as of this post) can drink.

Come on out and try some new brews! :beerglass::beer::beerglass:
