PlayPlay Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Has anybody from DCMM personally installed the Ian Cull auto-up circuit before? How hard is it for a novice? is the final result totally concealed?
Scavenger Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 I have. It's fairly easy. getting to the area where it plugs in is tight though. It doesn't take very long and will be completely hidden. 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com
Scavenger Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Doing that sorta stuff when it's as cold out as it is (22 degrees) is hard on the hands. When & where are you planning to do it? 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com
PlayPlay Posted February 6, 2009 Author Report Posted February 6, 2009 Doing that sorta stuff when it's as cold out as it is (22 degrees) is hard on the hands. When & where are you planning to do it? I just purchased it. But, I'm in no hurry to do it. Perhaps if we ever do a DIY day.
Mr EZ Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Where did you get it, I thought he wasn't goign to build anymore I just purchased it. But, I'm in no hurry to do it. FD3SDriver Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I've installed one as well that i got from a fellow DCMM member. Just be careful which plug you pull out; because if you get the wrong one it might be tricky to put it back in place. (I found out the hard way.) PlayPlay Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 Is it hard to tell which plug is the right plug? Should I look for something specific?
MrFalcon Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I did it in probably less than 10 minutes. There are instructions on how to do it "blind" by not pulling much apart, or you can just pull it out. I chose to avoid the "blind" route - a little bit extra effort up front, but it was the only way to really be sure I wouldn't break something or jam it into the wrong place. Plenty of others have done the "blind" install; it just wasn't my cup of tea. It is a super handy addition, and you'll quickly find yourself used to having it.
PlayPlay Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Where did you get it, I thought he wasn't goign to build anymore Hey I missed this question. I believe there is a group buy going on on NAM. Check it out in the vendor section.

Scavenger Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I also thought Ian had quit making these. That's cool if you can still get them. 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com

gtrnka Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Purchased an Ian Cull's Auto-Up V7 last month and finally got around to installing it. I tested it before I put everything back together and got the flashing lights...even get the tones when I try to program it. But for some reason it doesn't accept the programing. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks! Next Generation Trnka Toy 2003 R53 MCSm, EB/W

orcadog Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 fes-auto.com now handle's producing the "Ian Cull Auto-Up". I bought mine from them last year. Well, to be acurate, I bought it off ebay, but they were the seller. Ian mentions them on his website as being the new producers. Never could get the auto-fog lights to work. But I bought it for the auto-"DSC off" and the auto-windows. That all works flawlessly and has for a year now. Cheers
Edge Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Never could get the auto-fog lights to work.Fog lights should only be used when it's actually foggy out anyway. gtrnka Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Okay....figured it out....when you program it you have to hold the door lock in the up position...then you set the switches....hold the door lock down to de-program it. :joyman: Next Generation Trnka Toy 2003 R53 MCSm, EB/W
