vicseeley Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Hi all, first time post for me. I'm thinking of getting a little guy travel trailer (http://www.golittleguy.com) and have been looking at 3 different tow hitches: Mini Fini (http://www.minifini.com), Mini Do More (http://www.minidomore.com) and Curt (http://www.curtmfg.com). I'm curious if anybody has any of these hitches? If so, any thoughts? Reading on NAM, the Curt is a direct knockoff of the Mini Do More but substantially cheaper than the MDM. The Mini Fini is the cadillac (or Goodwood) of the bunch but also seems the easiest to use. I'm also looking for an installer in the area for whichever I choose to buy. Any thoughts?

I have the MINIDoMore which the Curt is a reverse-engineered copy of. The only negatives I've actually heard about the Curt is that a) it's a copy and b) the listed capacities are too high, but I haven't heard of a Curt failing within their specs. I didn't care for the MINIFini as I already had a few tow hitch items from previous vehicles and I didn't want to have to get adaptors and what not. BTW, I had a Clubman. I didn't look to see what type of MINI you have. If you search the forum there is a thread or two on this subject including those who have had a tow hitch installed.
vicseeley Posted October 7, 2013 Author Report Posted October 7, 2013 I have a 2013 Mini Cooper S Convertible.
vicseeley Posted October 7, 2013 Author Report Posted October 7, 2013 LostDenverite - Where did you have your hitch installed? Would you recommend them?
elpollodiablo Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 I've got a MiniFini on Alice (R53), have a bike rack and a trailer hitch. I've been pretty happy with it. Be happy to let you take a look at the setup. I've hauled some pretty big loads with it (including a 10' Uhaul from Kansas to DC) Alice Cooper - Hyper Blue R53 with a few light mods ???? - Montego Blue 335xi with even lighter mods [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
cmcveay Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Reach out to CARMAN - Jim Carman. His wife has a hitch on her Cabrio but I don't recall which they have. Pretty sure they had it installed at the Dragon. 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon "Homer" 2012 MB/CR JCW R55 "Merlin" Sold 2009 LB/LB R56 "Archie" Sold
IndiCooper Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 MINIFini usually does installs at the dragon, him and i believe MINI Do More both send installation directions with their hitches. Ive also seen a couple aftermarket hitches get done at the dealership as well.
Edge Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 I can almost guarantee that the Mini-Fini product is the strongest (i.e. best built) product. The current models of the Sport-Link (the base of the entire system) are rated for a higher towing class than the MINI itself! carman63 Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Just saw this post. My wife has the Mini-Fini system installed, along with a spare tire holder. I'd highly recommend it. The owners are great people, the customer service is top-notch, and the system is pretty robust. MiniDoMore is supposed to be pretty good as well, but I have no experience with their system.
