wahoo_shoe Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Yeah, I know it's 100 degrees outside, but my dad's (the 'Vette guy) bday is coming up and I was looking to get him something he could use for winter "washing", i.e. a quick and easy way to get the general crap that ruins cars off his beloved baby. I've seen systems that are basically a pump system, but don't know much about them. He's a bit too old to be hauling buckets in and out of the house to do a two bucket wash and the hose goes off in Nov until March, at least. Anyone familiar with a system like this? 2011 Clubman S - LzB/Black "Clubby" Go Wahoos! Saving Second Base, One Mile at a Time! (Round #3, May 2014) http://info.avonfoundation.org/goto/MShoe
Don David Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Check out Kozak dry wash:http://www.autogeek.net/koaudr38sqft.html. Used in the industry literally for decades.
cmcveay Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I think I just shed a tear at the thought of that! With the amount of salt and grit that's put down on the roads here in the winter time, I consider it a capital offense to see someone write "Wash Me" on a car with their finger(s). I think the Kozak towels would be good for light dust that accumulates in the garage and all but once the slushies start, I'd have to put them away... 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon "Homer" 2012 MB/CR JCW R55 "Merlin" Sold 2009 LB/LB R56 "Archie" Sold
Bert Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 +1 on that. You have to have a good amount of liquid to get the grit off first. What about gift certificates or pre-paid tokens for the nearest car wash that doesn't have brushes or those long ugly curtain things, hopefully a self pressure wand wash if available? GreenCactus Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I have a battery-operated power washer. I've never used it, but in theory, I could use it in the garage. I usually just go to a touchless car wash to get the worst of the crud off. If it gets above 50, I'll wash her myself.
Wizzer Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 With the soft top I can't really do the Automated wash places so this last winter I just learned to wash the POD very very fast. Coldest day I managed to wash on was around 40ish out and it was just me Layered up and a quick rinse/wash/rinse and then into the car port to dry it off. Steve "Wizzer" P. wahoo_shoe Posted July 20, 2012 Author Report Posted July 20, 2012 Yeah I was thinking along the lines of a foam gun almost, but portable, that didn't require the use of the hose. They've had serious problems with the hose freezing before.. 2011 Clubman S - LzB/Black "Clubby" Go Wahoos! Saving Second Base, One Mile at a Time!
