Using Google Earth and directions to start just before the Kodak, TN exit from 81 and finish on Welsh Road at Fontana... Catching 129 in Knoxville - 84.0 miles, 1 hour 49 minutes Route 66 cut across through Seymour to Foothills Pkwy - 72 Miles, 1 hour 53 minutes I'm going to check some other routes as well...

Last year I drove down 81 to 40 to 129 in Knoxville. For this year I'm thinking about peeling off of the interstate before we reach Knoxville, like Kodak, and taking 66 to 441 to 321 to the Foothills Parkway. About the same distance, but probably a nicer drive than through Knoxville. Any interest?

Was given the green light my my wife to leave on Sunday. I'd like to leave at the crack of dawn. I can meet any of the Sunday caravaners at just about any location, preferably somewhere along 81, as I imaging that you DC dwellers will be coming across 66...

At this current point in time, I do NOT have work travel scheduled for the two week window from June 21 to July 3!!! As a result, I am glad that I will be able to attend my first event with DC Metro Minis!!! I will be accompanied by the lovely Mrs. Whales (Orleny, la Caleña loca), who will serve as navigator, despite only knowing how to navigate from our house to; Dulles Town Center, Columbia Mall, Towson Mall or Hagerstown Outlets...
