Craig...since you will likely lead. Just put me as your guest...
-
**UPDATE**
RSVPs now open
-
Also, I'm going to need a navigator...does anyone want to go but not drive?
Or, does any one want to lead and I'll navigate?
-
IM OFF THAT DAY!!!!! OMG I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GO NOW!!
I'll believe this when you've signed up and I see you that morning.
-
Thanks for the update. What are you thinking for the restaurant limit? I know the place gets packed
If each person were to bring a significant other, we would be at 20 people and the covered tables outside can definitely handle that. We would just need to be there as early as we plan so we can get parked and get prime seating.
I'm sure some people won't bring a significant other and therefore the number will likely be less than 20.

**UPDATE**
Based on traffic conditions, I've changed this run to a Sunday morning, July 24th. We should get out of the most congested areas before people wake up. Or at least that's the hope anyway.
Also, you can now view the route above...as always, the route is subject to change.

The Virginia Ferry Group is at the Germantown Starbucks in the back of the parking lot near Burger King.
-
For those of you planning on caravaning via White's Ferry tomorrow morning, please meet at:
Starbucks
1011 Edwards Ferry NE
Leesburg, VA 20176
Time: 8:15am
We will arrive in Germantown at 9:45 for the start of Laura's run.
I think I have:
Chrimson
TGGRRR
Wyretrip
Melo-R56
Shadow
Please make sure you bring your walkie talkies...it'll help for the caravan as well.
-
I'll try. Honestly, right now, it depends on how tired I am at the end of the day...got zero sleep last night.
-
I would definitely be interested in a true wine rack. I've also wanted a custom one and I think reclaimed wood would be awesome. Please PM for additional details.
-
Would definitely like to join this one! Is it possible to see the route ahead of time?

I'll do my best. I'm still working on it. There were definitely some issues during he pre-run that need to be ironed out. But I'll shoot to have the route up before July 1st

I've updated the event with the mid-point stop of Rocky Point Creamery
http://rockypointcreamery.com/
We'll arrive there around 11:30 (when they open), so it shouldn't be too crowded yet.
I'm pushing our departure time back to 10:15 in order to get us there closer to 11:30am.
The parking lot IS gravel, but it should be ok for us. I'm doing the final route check this weekend and I'll update if the lot is going to be any issue for anyone. I've been there a few times before and it was fine.
Cool. C3M goes here every year. MINIs won't have a problem with the lot.

I'll meet in Leesburg too, the ferry is just fun
Remember everyone is cash only on the ferry
Cool beans
-
lowered cars be warned, its pretty steep on and off of the ferry
Absolutely....thanks for the heads up!

If you want to bribe me you'll being apples, fuji or gala but sure you can show up early to see it.
Donuts ewwww
I'll think about the apples...donuts are definitely happening. :eviltongue:
-
Is it okay to show up early just to see John's vette?!?! I'll bring donuts
-
Riding the ferry sounds really fun. I'm definitely interested, in either or both directions. Meeting in Leesburg at 8:15, would we make it to Germantown by 9:45? Or would we concurrently run a different route and end up meeting at Cuginis?
I'm in no way intending to take away from Laura's run. This is intended to be a fun route drive to get to the start of Laura's run. You may do whatever you wish. I just thought it might be fun for the VA people to go together. And yes, if we leave by 8:30, we will be in Germantown by 9:45
-
Well, I'm not going to miss out on extra back roads just to save $4!
Count me in! Meeting address and start time?
8:15
Leesburg Starbucks
1011 Edwards Ferry Rd NE
Leesburg
If you find this is too early for you and the kids, don't worry about it. This is what I plan on doing since I know it's going to take a bit of time to get across the ferry and I'm not going to go straight through Poolesville.

SHADOW
Looking at the map and the route, the Ferry makes the most sense on the way back to VA Since we'll be close by in Poolesville for lunch. I'm just going to roll up 270 to Starbucks in Germantown for the start. I'm starting in Herndon where I live if you want to MINI-VAN up to G-town in the morning.
Let me know.
I may go both ways. Only 8 bucks round trip. And the back roads between Poolesville and Germantown are awesome.
-
Would like to go. Most likely would bring my kids. If doing a brewery, the kids and I would skip that part, just wait outside.
We'd be coming from VA, and would really like to do Whites Ferry. Kids would really dig it!
:top:
Let's meet up in Leesburg and then caravan to the ferry. We normally meet at Starbucks (1011 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg)
Edit: Or would that be MINI-van?? Any other VA people want to join in?? Hilary, Ali, Gerald, Chris??
-
Haven't been to Cugini's yet. Looking forward to it.

Alex,
I have been to that restaurant before and I totally understand the limited parking space situation that you had described. Still we can work around this by finding a nearby public parking lot and carpool to the restaurant, right? Just an idea.
D
Meant to respond to this. Yes, as long as no one will get towed, etc for being on private property, then it's an idea definitely worth considering.
However, I still want to keep the number of people down so as to make it enjoyable for those involved. The restaurant is not huge and I take it people will want to be outside if it is a nice day. I also don't want to run into the issue of a huge wait because we have too many...but I think I can mitigate that by one of two (or both) things:
- a reservation for more than 10 individuals.
- getting there early
-
I live 15 minutes from Cantler's and have been there several times. Just an FYI: VERY limited parking and on weekends, a wait for a group your size could be an hour or more. There's no place to wait prior to seating, except in a parking lot i.e. no place to sit.
Good luck.
Thank you. We've done this before with close to 10 people and it was a success without reservations. I will likely place a reservation. However, I will talk to their staff to see if a group of 20 is even feasible. I have personally been there with a group close to 20, no reservations, and we were still fine (maybe 30 min wait), so, I think we should be fine. We also plan to get there when they open. I'm far more concerned about the parking issue.
However, Denny's idea may work.
