  1. It's not a mileage or age issue so much. The High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) on the 2nd Gen is a known issue and it's got either a recall or a technical service bulletin out on it. They have failed at much, much lower mileages than 40k. It would probably be worth asking your service advisor what the MINI USA policy is on them since they are on the list of things to look out for.

Odd to have had so many fail at MOTD but I guess anytime you get hundreds of the same cars in one place, it could easily happen.

Hmmm...interesting this wasn't brought up during my service and, of course, I didn't know to ask. I was told "hey, it's a mechanical part, it's working all the time". I knew that was a bunch of baloney but it's was covered under warranty. I'll ask someone else next time I go. Thanks for the heads up.

  2. Mine went at about 44K while I was @ MOTD. :banghead:

Interesting. Apparently you weren't the only one who lost a fuel pump at the dragon. Hopefully you were able to get it replaced on the fly.

I have to say I was a bit surprised to see it go so quickly but I guess I'm not the only one. :stupid:

  3. I've seen them many times!!

Just spotted an electric blue MCS HT on 495 with MD plates "SUVBAIT". Anyone here?

No joke...I've seen them twice. And at least three of you have seen this car as well. This person is apparently putting some miles on that car hahah.

  4. Thanks!!

I drive that route about twice a week, so you might see me again. I love McArthur when there aren't slow cars in front of me (almost never).

I look forward to meeting you soon!

Interesting. I drive that route basically everyday because I'm coming from Tysons and don't have the patience to wait for River Road or, god forbid, make it all the way to 270. Plus cutting "across country" like that is fun (for the most part).

Look forward to meeting you as well :motor:

  5. Cricket sighting! Haha.

Obviously we haven't met yet since I'm new to the group but we "met" today at the Carderock exit and you were behind me on McArthur and Falls. Cricket looks good! I'll be out at an event shortly. Good to "meet" ya.

  6. Wow...quite the response. Thanks all

Cambo, I'm sure I'll run into you soon...hopefully not literally. :motor:

Stephatron, not yet unfortunately. I'm trying to think of a good one. hahah.

cmcveay and Edge, thank you for the info on Spring Fling. I'm definitely interested...that is if I can get that Saturday off from work.

cmcveay, you have a pic of those side scuttles? I think I know what you are referring to...but not positive.

TGGRRR, thanks for the heads up on membership. I will likely take advantage.

1975_mini...I knew someone was gonna call me out on that :top: Hmmm...this plastidip thing is new to me. Interesting.

Hope to meet you all soon!

  7. Hello All,

I picked up this beauty a couple of weeks ago. It's a 2011 MCS HT MB all the way around. This little beast is lots of fun and I definitely don't regret the purchase. I'm in G'burg but spend a ton of my time in NOVA. I'll likely become a full member soon as I'd love to meet some of you and attend events. Until then...if you see me round... :hello:
