  1. I think she's a cult recruiter. I heard she yells at you if you don't name your car. Why would you bother naming your car anyway?! It's just a thing that gets you around from point A to point B...

*I HOPE YOU PEOPLE KNOW ME BETTER AND CAN SENSE SARCASM*

    Cue an Ali response in 5, 4, 3, 2........

  2. So I had to get an Xray today so went to the Alexandria hospital. As I get out of Tigger I see a nice Electric blue MCS parked behind us and her owner. I say "I love that color, it's my second favorite."

Well I knew right away that I had found a MINIac as she launched into happily chatting about her MINI who is named Money Penny after James Bonds secretary. She also explained that Tigger was very appropriate since the author is British, I hadn't even thought of that.

I gave her a card and I hope she comes out to play. She needs us

I was in Alexandria yesterday...but no one sees me . This is cool. I love when MINI owners really enjoy their cars.

...Oh and Collin from auto cross spotted SUVBAIT in MD today - it's a Bayswater. That tag is familiar but I can't remember the owner's name for the life of me.

    That car is everywhere. O.o

  3. So, I've put 10K on the little beast since March. Love, love, love it...but I'm getting to the point where I'd really like to switch out the stock halogens for Xenons. Does anyone have an idea as to the best way of going about this? Obviously I don't want to void the warranty but the cost of OEM units are possibly prohibitive. I may not have a choice but to keep the units I have...but if you don't ask you don't get, right?

    Anyone have any ideas?

  4. There's a chili red R56 with black stripes I've seen twice here in Germantown. Today he came flying up from behind me on Middlebrook Rd. I honked as I moved up along side him before turning onto 355 and he waved though his passenger didn't look amused haha. He yelled to me, "that was fun!" Looks like it's had some aftermarket work done. If you are on these forums, sir, nice car! And see you around :wavey: :motor:

  5. Alexander and Erik, Sorry that we have not met.

Will you be at the next M&G at MINI of MoCo?

I am usually only up in Rockville and Gaithersburg on Saturday morning when running errands or going to out to dinner or to the dentist (like next week). I was just dropping clothes off at Zips and going to Batteries+. I live near Potomac village and work in Reston and from home.

Bert, you and I actually did meet at the Scandinavian import meet if I'm not mistaken. We were discussing routes we take home from work and you accused me of being part of the problem with the backups on Falls Rd. :hahaha:

I'm just surprised I haven't seen you in the wild yet. But, I will be at Mini of MoCo on Saturday. So, see you then! :motor:

  6. Happens to everybody. My current '97 Miata's oil pump went at 38000, well past warranty time-wise. Replacement at dealer would have cost only slightly less than local Miata mech installing new crate engine. I went with the latter, along with a light flywheel. And a real oil pressure gauge.

'06 Outback had leaky rear diff at only 1500 miles, dealer replaced diff under warranty. '03 Tacoma, throwout bearing at 49800, just inside extended warranty.

The first '97 Miata had thrust bearing failure at 100000. Yeah, 100k, but just shows that there is no such thing as a bulletproof car.

Hunh...Edgewater. I was just out your way yesterday. I agree there is no such thing as a bulletproof car. I think it was mainly the fact that I, personally, had just taken ownership of the car (it's used), had it inspected, blah, blah, blah....and a month later...bad fuel pump.

But I know what you mean. Every car is likely to have SOMETHING that is "weak" parts wise and bound to fail. That's just the name of the game. Can't complain too much. I had an extra year of warranty

  7. Alex, did you see the two MINIs on 211 Saturday? They waved like crazy and honked. Some they and is were being rather spirited I barely saw them but one was a Countryman and one was red.

You got me, Ali...I did forget about those two. That was nice to see. :top:

  8. Saw a nice and clean silver with black stripes R53 near Rt. 32 in Howard County. Actually got a wave. First one in...oh, I don't know. Not counting the 15 or so I received in the IN/MI area over the July 4th weekend. Nice not to get "the stare" back. haha.

  9. Should you have threatened my knee caps...should you have not threatened my knee caps....we can debate that for awhile. Don't let me forget to send money via PayPal (oh, right...hence the knee caps)

  10. That was tons o' fun. I will definitely be at the next skyline drive run. It was great to finally meet some of you. Thanks for organizing, Will!

That Ali person is a character.....:top:

I have to say that once we all went our separate ways exiting off 66, the drive up 495 and into MD was....uhhhhhh....lonely :frown::wavey:
