I've been very happy with the EBC Red Stuff pads. They are fantastic. Yes, they cost a little more, but less dust, and great performance...
just make sure you get rotors that are coated. Nothing worse than putting on new rotors and the first time they get wet, they turn to rust (the hubs, not the actual rotor)
I'd be more than happy to do brake work for any DC Mini member, Gratis... (that means free... Just bring the correct parts)
Yes, I've got a lift and tools, 55" Hidef, wifi in the garage..lol... Just come on over, hang out, done in no time...
I'm also willing to work on member's cars... I'm just a little more expensive- I require beer and pizza :embarassed:

Other corner done. Time? 35 minutes :top:
-
Dan,
How much time did the first corner take and how much time will you be able to knock off with lessons learned.
Are you replacing with coil over kit or just the springs.
For right now I'm just doing springs (buying a house, so funds are tight).
The first corner (comedy of errors), took almost two hours in the dark.... lol..
My target for the other corner is 30 minutes :top:

Started lowering the R53 today... Got one corner done... Lessons learned
1: If you're following insctructions, DO NOT SKIP AHEAD!! Nothing like trying to get the lower collar loose when you've already got the top mounts loose
2: If the lower perch comes loose, make sure you put it back on in the same orientation as the other side!!! After re-assembly, my spring was rubbing the unibody, and it took me a couple minutes to figure out why.
3: Pay attention when taking everything apart! I didn't realize for a few minutes that a bracket on the strut slipped into the color to orient everything properly.
Other side should go a lot quicker tomorrow... LOL

Passed an Orange four door hardtop going south on 29 near Gainesville this morning... No look, no wave

Technically, nothing other than driving it to and from work, :motor: , but I did receive a package with a new rear wiper and cabin filter, so I plan to install those along with a new ITG air filter sometime this week.
I was amused when I called all the local parts houses trying to find a rear wiper blade for my R53... And then I felt like someone was trying to abuse me in a sexual manner when I called the dealer and got a price for it!!! :stupid:

Little Bruiser is starting to think he's a racecar.... Gonna have to talk with him.... :motor:

Looks like a nice kit, just keep in mind that "cross drilled" rotors are strictly for looks nowadays, and offer no real performance improvement....

welcome to the party!

Nice pricing!!

Wow nice work!

What's your opinion of the Pacesetter cat?

Everybody still planning on being at the M&G tomorrow? I will, with a fancy Cravenspeed dipstick for sale

Link to what you're getting?

That is why I like black or dark grey base, everything pops off of it.

I like the idea of stripes, but the way it wraps around the front bumper almost looks like clown make up, maybe Ali's idea of orange will change that a bit. (Gulf'ish)
Martini livery is awesome!
or
I like the way it wraps around the headlights and rear fenders....checked flags optional, but I think making it a solid color on the bottom would look cleaner.
My 944 was white:
If I had kept it, the plan was to either do a Martini scheme on it, or a Rothman's look:

so my new Meatballs will be here Friday for the R53, but it's going to be too damned cold to put them on. So I fired up Forza and started playing.... And I had ideas.... So, I wanted everybody's opinion!!!
So, here is what it will look like with just the Meatballs (yes, it's getting gold wheels):
I thought it was a little plain, but a few people have said they like the "clean" look...
I decided to throw a stripe on the side of the car, but couldn't figure out how to end it at the front. after a little more thought, I remembered that my front bumper is in pretty nasty condition because of a bad clearbra install/removal by the previous owner, so I made this one, with a red stripe that drops down and covers the front bumper!
I tried a couple different colors on the stripe, but nothing looked as good as the red...
So, that's where I'm at so far- What's everyones opinion? Stripe or no stripe? Have another idea I should try? Post it up and I'll go nuts in Forza after work tonight!!

If you need it I have a stock R53 dipstick that's brand new.
I appreciate the offer, but I already ordered another one from Way Motorworks :top:
-
Can I have it for $40 ? Pretty please?
You know it's for an R56, right?
-
So, I knew the dipstick on my car read "off" when I bought it- Now I know why. The previous owner installed a cravenspeed R56 dipstick in my R53
So, anybody want to buy an R56 dipstick? Regular price through all the different sites is $74.95 plus shipping- How about $50?

Just replacing the radio? Can you wait till the next nice weekend we have? If so, pick up a new one and we'll slap it in there...

Anybody local ever source the MINI USA decals for Contingency in autocross? Mazda, Honda, and Porsche you would just order straight from them... Doesn't look like it with MINI...

I didn't want to derail the Passport M&G thread any more than I already did... lol
So I'm looking to get my R53 tuned. Currently, the car is running a 17% pulley, bigger injectors, and an invidia exhaust. After searching around, I'm finding that most places have shifted their attention to the R56 and newer. Reading online, people are saying that having the PCM flashed with the JCW maps is good for a nice bump in power.
What have my fellow R53 owners done on the tuning side of things to help?

Call- yes... Funny thing though. So far I get voicemail and no return call....
