  3. Sorry, Craig told me is messed up in the port over. I will correct today.
  4. I did not see a vehicle cap in the rules, that would be a question when registering, if they don't do we want to set one as wranging cars (staging, spacing during the event, etc...) can get over welming. I think it was 10 or 12 for the manassas one, I don't think we should go much over that. Who is taking the lead this year?
  5. Craig said, he will be adding a redirect in the near furture, but I will let him expand on that.
  6. Looking for some feed back, I am considering removing the bonnet and boot stripes and instead adding the JCW rocker panel graphics. I have included photos with the graphics in place. First the white will only be in the JCW logo the best in just the backing. The logo near the rear tire is the factory intended install, but I kind of feel the graphic looks backwards that way carding forward. The second photo is the graphic reversed with the jcw by the front the graphic narrowing towards the back. The only downside to this way is the logo would fall on the door seem and spilt when the door is open. Not that big a deal. Map my options are: -leaving it as is (stripes, no side graphic) - factory side (no stripes, logo to rear) - reverse side (no stripes, logo to front) look forward to hearing everyone input, I am evenly split between the 3 at the moment.
  7. You have to hate when being an adult gets in the way of MINI fun
  8. For those that are torn between the MINI track event and the annual meeting you can do both!! The Moco time slot is from 0900 to 1130 and summit point is only an hour and a have from the restaurant. The are 12 spots left on their time window to sign up. Here is the link https://miniofmontgomerycounty.themi...CrossChallenge Hope to see you there. Brandy and I will be there. The other dealers still have opening as well but would make you miss out on free food. PMoA still has 10 spots in the 1130 to 1400 window Sterling has 36 spots still open!! You might get the track to yourself from 1430 to 1700.

  10. I found this thread on another MINI forum, about ten post down in the thread is step by step instruction with key pictures. Unlike a Gen 1 the Gen 2 does not require a special tool to release the tension. Any pry bar or equivalent will do the job. Does not look like a difficult task, if you have basic mechanic skills. Hope this helps https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/how-to/195227-r56-serpentine-belt-replacement.html
  11. Sorry we missed your initial post. I do not have any experience with serpentine belts on gen2, if it was a gen1 there are penalty of tools and experience. I think most gen2 have it replaced under warranty because a common issue is the valve cover leaking at the rear vacuum line, this leaks oil onto the S-belt and friction wheel requiring both to be replaced. So it doesn't become a DIY job for most. I will look around and see what I can turn up for you.
  12. Save the Date: November 5th for MTTB9 We have been able to confirm the date for this year. This is our annual run around the beltway to honor our Nation's Veterans ~~ Lunch, Raffle, and Donation information will be updated shortly Look for RSVP to open in early October Shirts are available for preorder. 13. He is alive!!! pulled apart the carb and went nuts with a can of carb cleaner. Once I blew all the chunks a dissolving rubber out of the jet and clean off what was caked on the needle he fired up like a champ when I filled the float with gas.:top::top: The float gasket was dry rotted so not driveable till the new one comes in, but that will take a minute once it comes in. Also waiting on the new rear brake drums, and will be replacing both rear drum assemblies. should take an hour or two. He is running though, so good day overall.
  14. I replaced the failed hose with anew modern rubber hose so should not be as susceptible. If your burning through the gas it is less of an issue. It was that I only asked Brandy would start him once a month and let him run for like 30 minutes, so gas sat in the lines a lot. I went with her running it as opposed to draining it and storing it dry, just gave out right before I got home, because I drove it when I was home in April. I got extra hose and will replace all the rubber section just to be safe. The big issue is ethanol fumes with eat a metal gas tank. The ethanol in gas is why lawnmower and other small engines do not last. Shouldn't be an issue, carb rebuild will take an afternoon once the parts arrive. I want him running earlier than later as I may pitch to David putting a MTTB vinyl on him and sticking him out front at PMoA as advertisement.
  15. Now that we are settled into the new house and getting back to normal it is time to give Watson a little TLC and get him back on the road. For those that don't know he was a little mad at me for being gone for two year and decided not to start when I got home. A quick walk through found that the rubber gas line from the tank had been eaten by the ethanol in modern gas (damn you environmentalist). We did a quick replace of the line but no luck. I was sure the dissolving line had gummed up the fuel system. So we rolled him on the trailer and pushed him into the back of the new garage till i had more time. That brings us to today. I started with the tried and true method of charge the battery, turn the key, and verbally abuse him till it starts (the equivalent of the IT troubleshooting step of turn it off and back on). No luck, but it works 10% of the time. So time to get under the hood, I was pretty sure the carb was clogged up so we started there. I pulled the cover off the float and this is what it looked like. That is gas. I am pretty sure the MINI is not a two stroke engine, so milky gas is not a good thing. This is what the fuel looked like after I drained the float, not a good color. so time to pull the Carb. Only took like two minutes to remove the carb, one of the great things about the simple motors in these classic Minis. Now just waiting for the rebuild kit to come in the mail. Amazingly the local Autozone didn't have the parts. Hopefully I will have an update this weekend.
  16. Just bumping this to the top of the forum, in case anyone is looking for something to do on Sunday.
  17. I do completely agree with you that's it's likely oem part number parts only I was just being a little absurd in my example to make a point. But I did not receive parts discount on the oem parts used in the "menu services" either but I will stop cluttering up the vendor thread with this
  18. So do that mean that all the electronics manufactured by Bosch are not covered or how about the transmission manufactured by assin. I get what your saying Haemish, but its a good way to dodge 10% on parts as MINI does not manufacture many of the things that would be replaced on a car. Also found out that the labor discount does not apply to "menu services" (for example an alignment).
  19. I am not talking about warranty, I am talking about that it say below that PMoA gives the club a 10% discount on parts. Today I was told that does not apply to tires. I am wonder what else is not parts.
  20. Fun fact: tires are not parts at PMoA.
  21. Just finish the shopping run, and we will make the run.
  22. I was confused, when I first read the post I had a mental image of Laura blasting 90's gansta rap through her 12" sub. Then I clicked on the link, and that made way more sense.
  23. First I am going to say the method I know is a cheap way to shorten lock to lock, but should never be done as it seriously throws off the turning geometry of the car!!! Drifters will shorten the turning arm either by cutting and welding or offsetting with a bracket. This will reduce lock to lock. Like I said before this killing the turning geometry. Great if you want your car to go sideways through a turn, not so much for tracking through a turn. You really would need to replace rack and pinion gears, i wonder if the steering box may be interchangeable with one for other BMW models. Just a thought.
  24. Wardel is not only good but pretty quick. I would not be surprised if he could squeeze in your rear glass somewhere during the day.
