2. Okay, by popular demand (Tggrrr and Scavenger), it's back to K Town, home of the K Town mini crowd for dinner this month! Saturday, June 11th 6:30 P.M. Damoim Korean BBQ 7106 Columbia Pike Annandale, VA 22003 http://www.damoimrestaurant.com/
3. And for some of us, it doesn't matter how much you try, you simply can't see the light... You already have the Chimex that you paid for.

6. Welcome Kristen. Hurry up and name it before Ali does it for you! I'm sure she's already got a list going...
7. I think the mods will depend upon what the owner wants out of the car, what their plans are for the car and what kind of budget they are working with. Commuting, track, autocross - each has some overlap and each has some very specific things that you may or may not want to do. My suggestion? Come out to a meet and greet or an event and meet other owners with the same generation MINI and see what they have done. I'm pretty sure all of will be glad to offer up a demo ride to show off the differences the mods make. As for the Chimex and things like that. There is a FREE alternative... changing the code with NCSEXPERT turns off the passenger seatbelt gong and, like the chimex, there are no warranty implications. There, that just paid for the Light-N-Sight!
8. Thanks Jono, it was nice to finally meet your and talk to you for a few minutes. Your dad was a hoot, I was able to talk to him for a few minutes and I look forward to your photo's. For anyone else with pictures, if you use one of the online gallery's, please share a link with us. I do plan on making a montage. Thanks, Craig
9. I'm so tired, I don't have the energy to go upstairs! I may sleep on the couch tonight. Too bad we don't have a vendor that does massage therapy!
10. Thanks to everyone who came out for the run today. I'd really like to thank Mark for giving up a day with his wife Ali so he could navigate for us. I'd also like to thank Marty and Pammy and Jim and Dave for navigating the second group. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without thanking Ali and Celia for taking the sweep positions. I hope everyone had a good time and saw countryside that you've never seen before. I really enjoyed meeting all of the new members and I look forward to another event soon!
11. Yes everyone, please do your best to arrive so we can have a meeting (everyone) no later than 9:45. To answer some previous questions now that the route has been finalized. The length of the route is 112 miles - including lunch, it should be 4-5 hours. For those who need to get back sooner, there are a few places to bail and make a quicker return trip. On this route there are lots of back roads with twisties, pretty good pavement, scenery, and some history. There are a couple of REALLY neat 1 lane bridges and one "tunnel" under a railroad track that's really, really cool. Lunch will still be a "picnic" style event so don't forget the chairs and bug spray that was mentioned in an earlier post. Can't wait to see all of you out there!
12. I shot a couple of pictures while out on the route Friday and here they are. The first photo IS NOT a road that we'll be driving on, it's the C&O canal path. We'll be stopping here for lunch. The second photo is to welcome our first Countryman to one of our events! We found a small "stream" crossing as a way to say "Welcome". The third and final photo was almost missed because Cricket decided to get the heck out of that "stream" crossing because that water was COLD! It's also proof that Laura can have a "heavy" foot when needed.
13. Laura drove today and I acted like a navigator - the run on Sunday is going to be fun! Lots of back roads with twisties, scenery and lots of history. We weren't able to find a place that could handle 30+ cars for lunch (not enough parking or not enough capacity inside) so we found a nice area along the river where we can stop and have lunch. Please plan on bringing lunch, a folding chair and bug spray (we didn't notice many bugs today but things can/do change).
14. Laura (Green Cactus) and I will be running this route a little later this morning and we'll be looking for places to get food and places to park and enjoy lunch together. I'll update the info for the event & post a new comment with the update.

17.
Seems not many people were interested in the event this weekend. Please take a look at Round 2 (in two weeks) and RSVP if you are intrested.

Thanks,

Craig

19. Ricky - I really can't say for sure but around 3 wouldn't be too far off. If time is a factor, you can alway peel off and head back when you need. Just give a shout on the radio or something.
20. far more accurate!
21. You actually have a boot? Isn't that the Queens English for what us yanks call a trunk? Next thing we know, you'll be calling your nose a Schnout and your sunglasses "windscreens"...
22. Jim, I'm surprised YOU haven't been kicked from FB yet!
23. I'll have ribbons, route sheets and plans to accomodate all of the RSVPs no matter what their status. Lots of the C3M and HRMINI folks can't RSVP here so I'll work with Celia and Dale to see if any of them will make it up for this event. If DCMM folks can update their RSVP status as your plans pan out, it would be appreciated but it's understood if you can't.
24. Hey, hate the player (Barry Manilow) but embrace the game! Find Lola references and see how they can be turned into car ideas.
25. Welcome Lola! Here are some other thoughts for the future. "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there She would merengue and do the cha-cha"
