  1. He waved and honked, whoever he was!
  2. Was that Helljumper and Craig I saw today near the Walmart and KMart on 29 around 6:00 pm?
  3. Thanks all! Michael Walker, Tried & True Tattoo in Front Royal has done all my work. He was previously at Good Times Tattoo in Manassas, but now owns the shop in FR. Great guy! Highly recommended!
  4. I entertained the thought of getting the matching Soda seats for mine and Sterling advised against it because of the wiring, etc. and it being a generally a bad idea. Unsure on the reupholstering though, but doesn't seem like a good idea for the same reasons.
  5. I figured Maintenance & Modifications could include body modifications too. Just wanted to share a couple photos of my new tattoo in honor of Phineus. My reef blue Roadster, Phineus, was named after the illegitimate son of Poseidon. So here's Poseidon, who sports a MINI logo tattoo on his chest. An Inception kind of thing, a tattoo within a tattoo. If you look closely, the artist, Michael Walker at Tried & True Tattoo in Front Royal, made the circle in the logo look like a little face, wearing a pair of sunglasses for those days when Phineus gets to LIV NAKD with his top down. Let me know what you think!
  6. Think I just saw John Bull on 28 in Chantilly.
  7. Actually the way the boot stripes are generally mounted on the Roadster, that's not the case. The boot on a Roadster (and Coupe) is more like a traditional trunk and isn't vertically flat like the other models, so the stripes travel horizontally and then downward to the bumper. Additionally there's the rear pop-up spoiler, which would need to be striped as well since when it's down, it's flush with the horizontal part of the boot and is designed to blend into it. So, it would probably take another two sets of bonnet stripes, plus having them custom cut to fit, etc. And Phineus proudly wears a license tag stating LIV NAKD, so he really doesn't mind if his boot is bare to the world!
  8. Phineus is a Roadster and only got bonnet stripes, so it was maybe $75 for the 20 minutes of labor. If you're doing everything, including the roof, then that sounds more likely why it's $350. I think I paid about $140 for the Soda bonnet stripes from a NJ Mini dealer online. I was informed that Soda stripes do not exist for other areas of the car and, since only bonnet stripes were manufactured, that's all I got. And seeing Dave do the work so quickly and efficiently is all I needed to decide that I'll never be attempting to do it on my own. As you said PITA. Good luck with it!
  9. Sounds great, but unfortunately gonna miss it. Seeing my therapist that day for some new ink!
  10. I used Zebra Stripes when Phineus got his. I bought the stripes online from a Mini dealer in NJ and had Dave put them on in about 20 minutes. Be sure to call rather than go through email or their website - Office: 703-802-3000 Cell: 571-233-4698
  11. Saw the lady with the CR Roadster, who I met at the beginning of the summer at a nearby diner. We were coming opposite directions on New Braddock and both turned onto Singletons in opposite directions :motor:in my neighborhood. We both waved!
  12. I get waves in my Roadster, but usually because I initiate them. Been keeping an eye out for you in the neighborhood too, but no sightings of John Bull yet!
  13. Have we been able to get anyone to sponsor the flags? I was thinking of bringing up the idea at work if we haven't. And regarding raffle prizes, does it have to be Mini-related or are things like restaurant gift cards and merchandise items okay? I might be able to acquire some things.
  14. There is currently a Specialicious voucher for Kilroy's ($10 gets you $20). It mentions brunch, so I'm assuming it's good for the day we'll be there. There are some restrictions as to the number you can use per table and such. Anyone know of any other reason we couldn't use it? Are we already receiving a special price or anything?
  15. Phineus and I hope to see you around Centreville soon!
  16. You know what? You're right. It was when we moved to VA that I had to get them for the first time. My bad. I was thinking it was when I moved from PA to FL, but was mistaken.
  17. I lived in FL for 10 years and we had front plates. I'm not sure if they are required, however.
  18. I saw a blue Countryman today too in Centreville in the parking lot of the B&T bank. I didn't notice the tag though. We both waved!
  19. I noticed on the Operation Second Chance website that they have an Events page. Will they or can they add this to their list?
  20. If you go into DC daily, you should consider taking the VRE instead of Metro. The station is in Manassas Park, only an 8-12 minute drive, and so much better than Metro!
  21. I also occasionally see a white one driven by a guy, probably in his 50s, on Route 28 coming from Chantilly toward Centreville around 6:00 p.m. when I'm on my way to Golds Gym in Chantilly. I think I saw him once on the Fairfax County Pkwy too. It's about time Phineus will have a nearby playmate! Oh and about two months ago, I met a lady at the Yorkshire Restaurant in Yorkshire (Manassas) who had a chili red Roadster parked near Phineus. She said she's had it for a year and had never seen another one until mine.
