HasAnMTBProblem Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 Having the shop check it out, but wondering if anyone else has experienced a very brief but acute vibration in the brake pedal at startup, especially on cold startup. It's a 2012 R60. It feels exactly like when you hit ABS on a hard brake. Obviously, it could be something else that is just manifesting as that vibration. HasAnMTBProblem Posted December 27, 2016 Author Report Posted December 27, 2016 Yeah, I've never felt anything like it either. One possibility I thought of is that it's the starter gear not disengaging correctly, and getting short grind on exit. (I feel like there's a joke in there, somewhere.) The vibration is about the right frequency and intensity (again, jokes?) to be that, but I've never felt a grinding starter in the brake pedal like that on other cars. HasAnMTBProblem Posted January 3, 2017 Author Report Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) So, after having my alternator and batter replaced (unrelated) things are better, though not completely absent. About half the time I feel it but it's much shorter now. Almost unnoticeable. So, I figure since I have extended warranty through USAA that I'll just let it go for now. Plus, Carmax give 6 months warranty on the diagnosis. So, thinking I should be good to go. TGGRRR (Ali) Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 With the extended warranty you should be good as long as it's not a maintenance thing. Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
ucf3 Posted March 10, 2017 Report Posted March 10, 2017 My r56-engine shakes a bit during cold-startup but no pulses on the brake pedal. I have felt a little pulsation when the pads are still cold but that's likely related to the R600 fluid and my rotors need to be cleaned/replaced. 2k10 Mini Cooper S (R56) 6sp, Coilover suspension, K&N Intake, Alta hotside, Stoptech Rotors, 17" white wheels w/ Conti DW, and resonator delete, S42 turbo upgrade, upgraded intercooler, tuned 250whp. 2k9 Lexus RX350 AWD, Classic Metallic, Sirius radio. 2k8 Audi R8, 4.2, Silver Metallic, StaSis Exhaust, MPSS tires, Sirius radio (Totalled) 2k14 Audi R8 5.2 Suzuka Grey, Larini Exhaust, MPSS tires, Sirius, K&N Filters w/ silicoln sleeve and tuned.
