minipup Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Hello everyone~! I am new to the whole mini culture and the car themselves... I actually had been considering/dreaming to own one for quite a while and it will soon to be realized~! I am very excited!! I wanted to ask a question... I want to have tint on my car as soon as I get it...and so I was searching the post on this forum but didn't come across that many...(I know some mentioned one in MD but that is kind of too far for me to consider...coming from Richmond...) I am considering Springfield/Alexandria...so if any of you know of a reputable place/the place you take your babies to, and don't mind sharing that info with me, I'd be very appreciative. Oh and on minor note, is it highly recommended to have clear bra on the car?? (seems like a lot of people have it done... I never owned small-ish car like Mini...I have no idea what to expect...to include possibly sustaining injuries on road...:afraid:) Any two cents (incl. place for clear bra installation...) is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
jcooper Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Hi,, welcome! As far as tint goes I've always liked LA tint in Manassas. They've always been friendly and helpful to me.
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Welcome to the MINI community, you will love your little mighty MINI. I like having the clear bra and had one installed after I repainted Tigger. His front was totally pitted and I wanted to protect it. I think our clear bra guy is out chasing hail storms this time of year, so I'm not sure who to go to. I used Carlos at one of our tint parties when I got my tint. Tell us about your upcoming baby Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
Stephatron Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 I personally went to LA Tint in Woodbridge. They were WAY cheaper for the same thing LA Tint in Manassas offered. My MINI, Lucy, came with a clear bra and I absolutely think it is the greatest thing ever. It's easy to clean bugs off, it protects the paint, you can't go wrong. You may even want to check with our friends down at RVA MINIs if they recommend any tint places in your area.
minipup Posted June 4, 2013 Author Report Posted June 4, 2013 Thought I posted reply...sorry it took me this long... Needless to say, I am enjoying driving my MINI!!! I searched around some more about tinting places and went with Tint FX...(offered us better price...) It was quick and my baby looks 100X prettier:biggrin:. The only regret was that I should've gotten the sunroof tinted...didn't think it will be that hot when parked in the sun:banghead:. I probably either go back to get that tinted or maybe buy one of those zippeeshade down the road... I also decided to wait on the clear bra...the price is waaay more expensive than expected...so... (I am investing money elsewhere like on go badges, car washing supplies, etc,...) But thank you all for your input~!
Edge Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 I also decided to wait on the clear bra...the price is waaaymore expensive than expected...so... (I am investing money elsewhere like on go badges, car washing supplies, etc,...) The longer you wait on the clear bra, the more you'll regret waiting. when the pits and dings of rocks and other things take their toll, it's too late. Yeah, it isn't cheap, but it really makes a difference in keeping your MINI looking nice. Welcome to the DCMM forums! Hope you like it here and decide to join the club! We have a guy named Randy that the club uses for clear bra and dent removal and all that. But based on my understanding, he's out chasing hail storms right now.

But based on my understanding, he's out chasing hail storms right now. His base price for the clear bra is $550 for MINIs and he's very good. I am not sure if he's around right now though.
