Glove Compartment Issues

Recommended Posts

On a 2003 Cooper my friend Emily just bought the glove compartment latch has some issue where it falls open while she is driving it.

Has anyone else had this issue, and what do I need to order to help her get that working again?

I found this parts list, I cannot figure out what to order.

It is in the vehicle trim subsection, labeled "GLOVE BOX - Diagram #51_5572"

Anyone with a R50 had to deal with this issue?:questionmark:

Ryan - take a look at RealOEM.com for parts as well. I've never looked at or played with the R50 glove box but I'm willing to bet someone like Edge or Scavenger or one of the other long time 1st Gen owners can offer some advice.

Hopefully a simple latch adjustment is all it needs.

It's a known issue for some first gens. Mine was doing the same, so for the time being, I have used the 3M heavy duty picture hanging velcro like thingies. Not perfect, but ok for now.

I have heard conflicting things about it, like there IS an adjustment that cad be mad to the latch that it latches onto, and I have heard others had to get a whole new glove box assembly as there are no replacement latches(sold as a unit).

HERE are a LOT of possible solutions/suggestion
