  1. Next time, for sure! I have a couple, just a little soft for my liking, I'm happy to send you the raw files.

Today was a day of digital gremlins, my cell, camera and watch were all wonky.

LOL. I understand perfectly about the Gremlins. That's why when I vacation, I shoot thousands of shots. Everyone thinks I only shoot good pics because they never see the bad ones.....LOL. Crap....the secrets out.

  2. Despite the far from ideal weather, it was a great time, and was a real treat to see folks, and meet some new ones!

Scott and Doreen had a blast as well!

I didn't catch his name, but if anyone can link me to the guy with the awesome little daughter that was high fiving everyone, I have a few candid pics he might like.

Lunch was great, as expected! The really do a great job out there at the Griffin Tavern!

The very few pics I got, can be seen HERE. If anyone wants non marked photos, let me know, 'm happy to pass the files along.

Nice shots! I liked everyone you took except the one of Lilli.....

  3. In preparation for my first DCMM run and since I've had the car less than two weeks from a sketchy used-car dealer, I had fluids checked and a wheel which seemed to have a slow leak looked at by PepBoys. Turned out the tire was fine, it's the rim that's a little bent, I'm guessing from a pothole I hit so hard I was surprised the tire didn't just blow :banghead: They added sealant for free but advised me to replace the rim if it keeps leaking.

Which brought up a related concern: I don't have a compact spare tire where its space is under the boot. I believe stock tires would have been run-flat, but my particular OEM 17" upgrade weren't (contrary to what the used-car dealer convinced me). So I called MINI of Montgomery County and they explained a spare wasn't included because it wouldn't have fitted in the front brakes of the Cooper S. So on a front flat, I would either have to install the spare on the rear then swap that rear with the flat, OR apply Fix-a-Flat or Green Slime then pump it up. I picked up FaF for now, but am tempted to add the compact spare and endure the whole swapperoo for more peace-of-mind in the case of a serious blowout.

I'd like to read some of your concurrence with what MoMC said, opinions and tips, but I also look forward to discussing it in person at tomorrow's run! And forgive me if it's already been addressed or a newbie fundamental issue, I searched but couldn't find an exact match :dontknow: Thanks!

I share your pain. I could have ordered the spare when I got my car, but the salesman at Sterling convinced me I didn't need it with the run flats. I regretted that decision after it was too late to change the order. Go to this link https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/how-to/313033-spare-tire-install-with-storage-package.html to read about my experience getting and storing my spare. I know it's different than your car, but Chad at Detroit Tuned was very helpful fixing me up and he can probably supply you with the proper spare.

  4. If anyone is interested in trying some basic coding with an I-phone App and Wi-Fi OBD adapter on later model Minis, I have the adapter and I-Phone app necessary. In this link http://support.mycarly.com/knowledge-base/code-bmw-what-is-possible/ are the possible things that can be changed by coding for the following models: (R55 (2007 - 2014), R56 (2006 - 2012), R57 (2009 - now), R58 (2011 - now), R59 (2012 - now), R60 (2010 - now), R61 (2013 - now), F54 (2015 - now), F55 (2014 - now), F56 (2013 - now). I'm not looking to make any money doing this, although I can always be bribed with a good IPA or two. Send me a PM or post a reply if you are interested in trying, but this is at your own risk.

  5. Thanks for the offers. I am planning for next Saturday. I will have everything ready to drop the sub frame and pull the transmission and it should not take more than two or three hours. I will need the same amount of time going back together a week or two after coming apart.

Carl, I'm out of town this up coming weekend...hope you find help.

  6. Thanks to LtDan and his DIY day, I got my KW V3 coilovers and hotchkis rear lower control arms in. Sitting right at 2" lower. Pic is bad, but I don't really care until I get my new wheels on. Drives so much better now. Weird thing is that the drive train feels tighter, now... less laggy. Not sure why. Maybe the taller suspension introduces some squat induced slack feeling?

    Looks nice!

  7. I need it to secure the inner nut that is fixed to the brake bracket. Here is where I'm getting my information, I don't just know that off the top of my head.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it odd that there is a mixture of metric and english sizes on the Mini? I know this car is made in England, but since it's really German in design, I would expect it to be entirely metric. I have some really thin metric open ends, I'll bring along just in case....
