  1. Nice! Once afternoon came, the top was down. This was about 10:30, and still a bit chilly. I kind of need to man up and just throw those heated seats on when it's 45-50 degrees.
  2. I was driving up 14th street NW today, taking a left onto P st, and I saw a girl in a red convertible with the top down. It was about 46 degrees out (so says my mini) but it was inspirational. I put my top down at the next light. So if you are on the forum, I say thank you!
  3. Hey All, Just wondering if anyone has had good luck replacing the speakers in their second gem's (mine is a R57 specifically). I get the impression on NAM that you won't have good luck just replacing the speakers, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me otherwise? I've also seen people recommend polk db6501. I'm not looking to spend gobs, I just want something a little better that the base system that is in there (no tweeters in the A-pilars). I also have no problem installing them myself!
  4. Hey All, Just thought I'd post here in the off chance that someone has either of these for sale, or would even want to trade for midnight black versions of each? Thanks, Joe
  5. It was great meeting you guys! Hope to see you at an event soon!
  6. While aimlessly looking through the forum last night I saw this, and was really interested, except that I live in D.C., and if I'm not mistaken the amount my windows can be tinted is pretty low, so I'm not sure if it's worth it?
  7. oh I hope to god it was rubber...
  8. Thanks! I didn't make her smile yesterday though... I think I made her tires cry tears of burnt rubber trying to get up a mammoth country incline... I am in love with her though.
  9. Hey Guys, I was thinking Ruby as a name. I've just been throwing it out there with my wife, and it seems to be sticking. We had our first long drive, from D.C., down to Charlottesville, then to Staunton, then home. Lot's of backroad driving, including my friends serpentine mile long, secluded "driveway" Quite an experience, and a ton of fun!
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome all! I'm contemplating starting a pet care company in Nola, but we'll see how that goes... I think I've taken to the stick quite well, but I've already thought about swapping out the transmission fluid in a month or so. I haven't ground the gears to much, maybe a handful of times, but I'm thinking it may not be a bad idea! Next weekend I'll be taking my first long drive with it, down to Staunton, I'm pretty excited!
  11. Hey all, Two weeks ago I bought an '04 R50. I've always wanted this car, and had the chance to get one at a good price, plus the transmission on my 04 Honda Accord was dying... Anyway, I'm in love with it! It is also, the first stick shift I've ever driven, so that's been fun, in D.C. You may have seen me, the mini is Red with a white top, and it had a sign in the window that said "Learning stick shift, SORRY" I'm also a professional pet sitter, and had to drive from West Georgetown to a house in the Hybia Valley every night and morning, starting the day after I picked up the car, so I kinda had to learn stick fast! I would like to become a member of DCMM, but am moving to New Orleans at some point in the next few months... Anyway, my name is Joe, I'm a musician and a pet sitter, and I love my mini!
