  1. WOW!!! it is such a great thing he is leaving for two weeks to the middle of no where Indiana. When he gets back he will have no spot in the bed cause I will make sure Guinness loves sleeping with me.

Also going to now love my mini girls vacation to Vegas in June. Will make sure to keep him busy with housework while I am gone.

    OHHHH SNNNAP!

You guys should take lessons from us older gents...

The two best words you'll ever learn are "Yes Dear" and one very important key to a happy life with a wife is when you remember that you have no control over your wives life - and you have no control over your own either... Just hand it over.

Now, back to the originally posted issue. I have to wonder if it's a combination of a few things that see an increase in your MPG. 1) Warmer temps (as noted above), 2) Better aerodynamics, and 3) Driving differently because in a lowered car, you are a little more cautions about road hazards...

  2. Where is the like button!?!?:top::congrats:

EDIT: This is Tyler, I thought I was on my account...oops!

So is it safe to assume that Tyler and Corey will be sharing a dog house somewhere soon???:embarassed:

  3. my ratio of cost that was for walnut blasting vs how much was for the ecu flash may be of a bit. I know the total was $7XX for the both and the walnut blasting was $500 something so ECU flash/reprogram/update was probably in the $100-150 range.

I asked if I could skip the ECU programing, I have a Cobb Accessport and as it is no longer supported I don't want the ecu to be updated to where the Accessport no longer works with the new software. Service guy seemed to say there was no way to do it without reprograming.

I will likely grab a Bentley Manual, gather the tools and take it on myself some warm weekend this summer.

It takes a solid hour or more for the entire ECU flash - long enough that it's on a battery charger for it. I'm not sure what the justification is for it though. Resetting the ECU would be good enough.

  4. Ha ha - thanks for asking Corey - I didn't do the front yet, no - ran out of time. Was going to do them today (Friday) my day off - but now I see it's RAINING!! Maybe I can do them this weekend - however I think it's supposed to rain each day...bummer! But I'll try & fit them in somewhere. I'm so grateful for your help and advice. That was really great of you to show up & help me!!

    Nora

Nora - if you don't mind suggestion. Stop by the dealership and get a pair of new headlight rings and PD them instead. I say that because they are clean, without any grime, oil or dirt. You can remove the clips from the back side of them (which will help you understand how the existing rings come out) and then PD the front and back sides. They aren't much - about $20 each.

AND, if you do this, you can have PD fun even if it's raining outside.

Be careful with the headlight washer covers, they can be a little tricky to remove and re-install.

  5. Congrats and welcome, I look forward to see you at an event soon.

Not quite black all the way around, but we can help with that.

I have a set of OEM black side scuttles that are free to a new home! That'll get rid of that "hideous" bling on the B panels!

  6. I do my My 04 R50 with 130k+ miles gets sea-foamed about every 6 months. I do half a can into the vacuum line and the rest into the gas tank. Let it sit for 30 mins plus then go and dog it for about 5 miles and blow everything out. My R50 will go from 33mpg to 35 mpg hwy after a good sea-foaming. I think it has a more predominate affect on the older cars than the newer.

In terms of MPG, I think you are right Nick - the 2nd Gen - in general - gets better mileage so the average increase is less noticable. The 2nd gen "S" models need this more than any other version due to the amount of oil film/mist that's blown through the system at/around the turbo. The non-S cars should have almost zero problem with build up on the valves and intake tract because they dont' have that engine oil cooled/lubricated snail between the air intake and combustion chamber that likes to "piddle" oil into the system. Pouring it into the tank actually does very little for any of them except for helping clear the combustion chamber since the fuel injection point isn't a part of the air intake system.

The spray seafoam would certainly be easier to atomize and get into the system but if you pour slowly and create a small entry point over the vaccum line with a gloved finger, you get enough air velocity that it's a fine mist going into the system.

I may be ultra paranoid (Hello NSA, FBI and whoever else is watching) but I always did the seafoam treatment just before an oil change. I was always worried about organic solvents trickling past the piston rings and into the crankcase to contaminate the oil.

  7. That does sound awfully fast for fading but there are things to consider. The horizontal surfaces will fade the fastest as they are in the sun and exposed to more environmental issues for longer periods of time - they take the brunt of the rain, snow, sun, bird poop etc., etc...

If the car has only been washed at the dealership (as mentioned in the OP), they aren't waxing it or applying anything to help protect/seal the paint, stripes or other vinyl/plastic. If I'm not mistaken, their car wash is also the type that has the big dangling "rags" that knock the dirt/grime around as it washes it away?

Without wax, sealant or other kinds of protection, the vinyl is going to take a beating and it's going to fade faster if the car spends a majority of it's time parked in direct sunlight.

Sorry to hear about the recurring problems though! Hopefully, the situation will be worked out (for the stripes and other issues) in a beneficial way.

  8. I figured that would freak you out

She even had me out there, walking around her car, searching for any sign of PD. Secretly, I kept hoping there would be something there but alas, you let me down and Zparkle and Lona are not yet full ordained members of the PD elite... Unless you count the Frontier that is...

I do think it would look awesome to black out the "Z" emblems and the matte chrome door handles...

  9. Since I won't be able to make the first MINI spring fling event due to the PTUNING spring event on April 5th, I wouldn't mind mounting my GoPro kit on your MCS for some coverage. Do you have a GoPro? The one that is on my MCS belong to a co-worker and he needs it for the April 5th event.

    Let me know.

If anyone wants to get the mount and do this for the PTuning crew, I'll volunteer a Hero 3 Black Edition for it.

    P.S. Volunteer = loan...

  10. We believe it's the same, but we need a first gen to test fit the thread and length of the tow hook. So, if we have anyone local with a first gen that is interested in the tow hook/camera mount, we can test fit it and discount you a bit on the part for your trouble.

    Thanks,

According to REALOEM.com, the tow hook is common across both 1st and 2nd Gen MINI and bunches of BMW's as well.

The part number for it is 72157203519. I was going to drop a list of what vehicles it's used for here but it's a pretty long list.

  11. I finally got my Etsy shop set up...

Right now, there isn't much. A couple of stickers and autocross numbers, since I know autocross season is starting.

I'm working on offering magnetic and static cling autocross numbers very soon!

    www.etsy.com/shop/laurascustomstickers

    I set up a coupon code for DCMMers it's "DCMM2014" and it's 15% off.

As always, I can do a lot of stuff, so don't hesitate to ask if you don't see what you want. :top:

    Super Awesome!
