  1. Again, got these for the Mini for HPDE days, but sold the car. First set is the Carbotech XP10 for the fronts (first-gen R53 brakes). These have never been used, but were pre-bedded by Carbotech. They're track-only pads. New cost is $172, I'm asking $125. Second set is the Carbotech 1521 (Bobcat) for the fronts. These are the street pads from Carbotech. Again, never used but pre-bedded by Carbotech. New cost is $125, I'm asking $100.
  2. Bought these last year for HPDE days, but I just sold the Mini and got a BMW Z4M Coupe. The wheels aren't pretty (bought them second-hand from an autocrosser) but there are no dents or any other structural issues. The tires have been used exactly once, at Lime Rock Park in October, and are in perfect condition. I'm selling the set at $600 firm, and I'll throw in the wheel carriers.
  3. Yup! My jaw hit the floor when I saw the graph on the second run. Alas, all I got was a diagnosis of a gasket leak somewhere around the supercharger. Jan couldn't figure out why I was still running lean with the 380 injectors until we got a can of brake fluid out and started looking for a leak. Sure enough...:banghead:

  8. Auto World isn't necessarily a "Mini shop", but they're good mechanics. I'd highly recommend them for anything.

  10. Good condition. Some road rash, but repairable. Goodyear Eagle F1 AS included, approx. 20K miles on them but they're loud as hell. $200 for the set, as is - where is (Gaithersburg). Pics to follow.
  11. OK, not recommended. I had them replace my front control arm bushings with the Powerflex kit, and they managed to install one side backwards. The inner bushing was backing out, and the only way I caught this was that I had another shop install the TSW X-brace before I left for Lime Rock on Wednesday morning. Luckily the shop (Auto World in Gaithersburg, near the airpark) was able to press out the bushing and reinstall it correctly. The shop owner was gracious enough to give me a refund (but only for the side that was installed incorrectly), but it still rankles me that a shop can do one side correctly and not realize they did the other side wrong - something should have "clicked" in the mechanic's mind that it wasn't right. Needless to say, this could have been disastrous had I gone to the track with a half-baked bushing.
  12. Anyone ever deal with these guys? I keep getting little cards in the mail implying they're a Mini shop, but I called the other day about some fairly standard maintenance items and they didn't seem to know what I was talking about.
  13. How does this differ from doing a Seafoam treatment through the PCV hose?
  14. I decided to do it on my own, using the PCV method. I sucked about half the can into the PCV hose, then let it sit for 30 minutes. WOW, did blow a lot smoke! The idle is noticeably smoother, and the throttle seems a bit more responsive. I'll hit it again in a few weeks to make sure I get a good cleaning.

  16. Can't stop smiling. The exhaust is fairly stock-sounding, although a little deeper bass rumble is noticeable. The note gets progressively more aggressive as you work up the rev range, though. It's a nice, controlled rumble, not as loud as a Borla or Magnaflow, but a bit more refined, IMO. Above 4000 rpm, it really shines. The increased flow can be felt, and it really opens up the revs.
  17. Wheel hop is noticeably reduced. The ride is very controlled, and actually quite civilized around town. Put her in the twisties though, and the Bilsteins really shine. The front stays planted through the apex, no wandering, no body roll...nothing. The rear feels a little more dialed in, but I may move the bolts on the rear sway bar to the firmer setting - still playing with it. The biggest difference I've notice is that I can feel the tires working a little harder, which is great because this gives really good feedback.
