Brian0758 Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I will be redoing my brakes / rotors soon and was wondering if anyone has use the TyrolSport Brake Caliper kit. http://www.tyrolsport.com/index.php?p=product&id=172&parent=64 They replace the soft rubber bushings with bronze alloy bushings and stainless steel guide pins. It would seem that this would allow the calipers to operated more smoothly but wasn't sure if they were worth the extra $107. 2012 Jeep Rubicon
cmcveay Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I don't know Brian. I haven't read anything about the calipers on the MINI being flimsy or anything. My brain says that you might pick up some serious noise and vibration with a bronze bushing - the rubber bushing "floats" the caliper or isolates it. I'd also be worried about corrosion build up and all. You dont' drive Gute Fahrt in crappy weather but get 'em wet in freezing weather and you could have issues with them too... 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon "Homer" 2012 MB/CR JCW R55 "Merlin" Sold 2009 LB/LB R56 "Archie" Sold
Brian0758 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 That would be my main concern is they could seize up without proper lubrication or in cold weather like you stated! 2012 Jeep Rubicon
Scavenger Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I've heard those are noisy and can decrease life expectancy for pads and rotors. Probably a bit much for a road car, race car or track car, maybe worth it. 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com
