Any two way with a main channel, and a privacy code (aka CTCSS) feature will work. We use the main channel 7, with a privacy code channel of 21 on runs. A nice set will be in the $50 range. A FRS is your standard two way, doesn't require a license, and is your basic handheld unit, that sounds like what you're looking for Here's a great article for understanding radios: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/twoway-radios.html
