Autocross is a safe, low-speed motorsport where competitors drive against the clock to turn in the best times as they navigate a driving course defined by orange parking cones in a large, open lot. What can I expect? Autocross school is the best way to learn more about autocross and improve your driving performance through in-car instruction by some of the best instructors in the Washington DC area. Come join us for a fun and educational day filled with safe but adrenaline raising motorsport. Class is in session: Sessions will include a variety of topics to help novice participants better understand what goes on in a day of autocross, and what they will likely be seeing and hearing around them as they participate in the motorsport. Instruction on how to prepare both the car and driver for autocross, tech inspect, work a course, and safety topics will get you up to speed with the day-of operations for participating in autocross. Then, drivers will learn how to make the most of their runs by examining techniques like walking the course to determine good run lines, throttle modulation (your gas pedal is not an on-off switch!), and when to brake. Discussions will also cover basic handling conditions such as 'oversteer' and 'understeer' you may have heard of, and how to correct them, and try to prevent these issues to give you your best runs. Learn by doing: It's time to put all of your newfound knowledge to work. Get ready to buckle up and drive, as you will get run after run to put your training and skills to the test with a series of handling and stopping challenges as you gear up to run a full autocross course. With one of our excellent instructors at your side, you will continue to receive guidance to improve your performance and lower your lap times. As you learn how to pick your turn-in points, choose your braking zones and work the throttle wisely, you will notice a consistent improvement in how your car handles confidently and smartly through the sea of cones. There is no better way to get started in autocross than with the NCC Autocross school. Whether you've done a few events in the past, or if you've never been out to a course before, you'll find the program educational and the skills you learn useful not just on the autocross course, but for all of the driving you do. MINI S3: Stock, non-S & non-JCW MINI S2: Stock, S or JCW MINI T3: Tuner, non-S & non-JCW MINI T2: Tuner: S or JCW MINI M: Modified, any model Put simply, Stock classes allow very few modifications, Tuner classes are mostly open but require 200+ treadwear tires, and Modified is for any car running stickier tires with few limitations. NCC Autocross has announced our 2019 Schedule! For the 2019 season we are returning to Seven (7) scheduled points events (with trophies awarded for participants based on their best five (5) results). We will also be holding a Novice School and a Test and Tune to kick off the season. As with 2018, BMWCCA no longer requires that all NCC Autocross participants to be registered BMWCCA members. Online registration for Points Events is $35.00 for members and $45.00 for non-members AM or PM. Walk-up registration is $40.00 for members and remains $45 for non-members.(PM Session Only! No Cash Accepted!!) NOTE: Our events sell out quickly so walk up registration may not be guaranteed. Please register online ASAP for best options. All Day Session (Online Registration Only!): Members: $55.00. Non-Members: $65.00. 2019 Season Subscription For 2019 we are offering Season Subscriptions for members only at the following pricing: Full Season ALL DAY at $240.00, Full Season HALF DAY at $150.00. The Season Subscriber Rate will get you entry into all Seven (7) Points events (not the School or the Test and Tune), and equates to a nearly 40% savings over purchasing each event indivudally. If you plan to drive with us for more than four (4) points events, then you will save money with a Season Subscription. About Our Program Our program is beginner friendly, offering in-car instruction, guided course walks, and a dedicated group of organizers who are happy to answer any questions you might have or show you the ropes. We offer Novice classing so you can compete against other beginners. Also, there are free loaner helmets available for use, so if you don't have your own helmet there is no need to go out and buy or rent one just to get a few fun runs in! All makes of cars are welcome at NCC Autocross events (no SUV’s or trucks please). We use a simple classing structure for non-BMW competitors. We also offer MINI only classing. For BMW drivers the NCC Autocross program uses a BMW-centric customized classing structure which pits your BMW or MINI against similar performance models in 3 levels of trim: Showroom, Tuner, and Modified.
