  1. I pick up the Roadster Monday, then leave for Florida for two weeks 4 days later! Argh! Imagine wanting to get home from vacation so you can drive your car? It would be nice to attend something local with other MINI owners. I don't think most people understand the MINI culture. I'm just beginning to grasp it through my on-line ventures and visits to MINI of Sterling. MINI owners are .... not normal. :top:
  2. Thank you, thank you. Accolades accepted with pleasure!
  3. My Roadster "John Bull" rolled off the truck at MINI of Sterling today! Delivery first thing Monday morning!
  4. I'm originally from Lake County, Ohio, but I lived in Florida several years during and after college (USF'80). I've lived in Northern Virginia since 1988 but always considered myself a transient. My heart belongs to the Buckeye and Sunshine States. I can't wait to move back to the Florida Gulf Coast.
  5. Thanks. Easy installation is key. So is price. I'm going to compare a few models on the market - I only need it to work for about 8 months.
  6. It looks like they're not required. My MA will supposedly make sure they don't drill the holes. I saw a few nice license plate holders to use while I remain in VA - no drilling required.
  7. Are they available at auto stores or special order only?
  8. I plan on moving to Florida next year. I learned that Florida does not require front plates, so I e-mailed my MA and told him not to drill and mount the front plate holder. I understand there are after-market plate holders that do not require drilling. Anyone familiar with Florida law or after-market plate holders like I described?
  9. Of course! Why not? On that note, an ASK MINI rep just told me my Roadster was released earlier today to Precision Motor Transport for delivery to MINI of Sterling. I called my MA and asked him to call whenever the truck rolls in. Being released to the carrier may only mean the Roadster was assigned a ground transport carrier, versus actually getting on a truck for delivery today. I'm counting the minutes....
  10. Not too many Roadsters around, locally or nationally. A rare breed in a unique line of vehicles.
  11. I checked the US Customs site a few days ago. They're definitely open as an "essential" agency, just like the National Hurricane Center.
  12. I hope I'm just as lucky with delivery. It's been 47 days since I placed my order and I'm dying to get my Roadster! As of Friday 10/4 at 12:00 PM, my Roadster will have been in the VDC's hands a day and a half.
  13. The MA sent me a "screen shot" of the Vehicle Inquiry Status Report, which contained the delivery estimate of Monday 10/7. As I write this, my Roadster has been at the VDC approximately 24 hours - maybe they can complete everything within the next 24 hours. MINI of Sterling is only an hour's drive or so from Baltimore. I'm hoping to get an earlier ground carrier.
  14. My '14 MCS Roadster arrived at the Baltimore VDC 18 hours ago. VDC estimates call for delivery on Monday, but my MA (MINI of Sterling) says it may be Saturday. Anyone care to guess the delivery date based on their experience?
  15. I saw a very nice pepper white HT with 17" Challenge Spoke wheels outside Caribou at Fairfax Corner this evening (Saturday 9/7). Anyone here?
  16. Me too. I'm across from Twin Lakes.
  17. Thanks for the response! My Roadster S is currently in the production in Oxford (due date 9/13), so it will be the end of September at the earliest for delivery. I will let everyone know, then I would love to meet all willing souls for introductions at a local eatery/coffee shop/winery. Just look for the Pepper White Roadster S with the JCW exterior package! Dave
  18. I cannot believe how many MINI people in the Clifton area. My Pepper White Roadster S is in the middle of production in Oxford, so I'm looking at multiple weeks until delivery. Probably not too many MINIs like mine in Clifton (near Twin Lakes Golf Club). I can't hide with the top down, so I'll do my best with the wave. Sounds like there's enough DCMM drivers locally to meet at Starbucks, Paradise Springs Winery, or another landmark. I'm new to MINI and hope to learn a lot about the brand.
  19. Update! My Roadster S began production today: September 4th at 7:55 BST! I have a VIN! Hopefully, it will board ship in England early next week for the voyage to Baltimore.
  20. I have yet to spot a Roadster outside the area surrounding MINI of Sterling. When I drove MGs back in the day, not many of those were around either. But they were certainly not as scarce as MINI Roadsters are today.
  21. Our neighborhood borders New Braddock near the intersection at Clifton Road. Don't be surprised if you see my Roadster at Guapo's in Fair Lakes on many a Friday night. I'll keep a lookout for your MINI. We head your way along New Braddock en route to Bonefish Grill or Sweetwater Tavern. I've regularly seen a MINI parked in Hayden Village and another in Hampton Chase nearby.
  22. Thank you for the welcome. I generally drive to the Vienna Metro on weekdays. You may see me headed to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church on Union Mill every Sunday.
  23. This is my first post. I live in Clifton near Twin Lakes Golf Club. I just ordered a Pepper White Roadster S with the JCW exterior package from MINI of Sterling. My ETA is September 26th. I'll be happy to wave when the Roadster arrives.
