  1. Waved at a good 4-5 one the way in, and of coarse the one I didn't get a chance to wave at because I had just swerved out of the way of a Camery making way too wide of a turn waved at me.

So silver hardtop that waved at a Spice Orange Coupe :wavey:

  2. If you're looking at it on a mobile device it will not show correctly. I should hopefully be able to get the route sheet done soon, I'm sent an email this morning checking if we would be ok to use the parking lot I've found that has an easy way to get to the park entrance. The K-Mart lot would have worked great but the light that we would have turned left at lasted maybe a whole 2 seconds before letting the oncoming traffic though.

Basic route is starting in Front Royal(not very far from the start of Skyline), do lunch at one of the two Big Meadow(probably wayside) locations since that is about two hours in around noon, from there its just keep driving south till we hit the other end of the part, turn around and head back up. There are only a few places to stop if bathroom breaks so I figure as we get close to one I'll ask if we need to stop and then stop if needed. Then the end will either be the last overlook or the visitors center just before that.

  3. Meeting place Samuels Public Library at 9:30

    Drivers meeting at 10:00

    Library Address:

    330 East Criser Road

    Front Royal, Virginia 22630

Parking is behind the building and I've gotten permission for us to park in the back line of spaces furthest from the building.

$15 for entrance to Shenandoah National Park.

    • Big Meadows Wayside (mile 51.2) The Wayside houses a full-service dining room with carryout service and offers a varied menu of regional favorites and contemporary food.

    Route: Here

    Things to bring:

    • Walkie Talkie(Channel 7, Subchannel 21)
    • Lunch(if not buying from Wayside)
    • Chairs/Blanket for lunch if all picnic tables are taken/full

At wayside there is gas available Premium 93. The pumps didn't have card swipes but I think they take them in the shop.

For lunch Wayside has most of the easy basic hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders to order(ordering a a little slow) they also have premade turkey, ham and other sandwiches. There are picnic tables and plenty of grass so might want to bring some blankets to sit on if the tables are taken.

So far the weather looks like it should be excellent and hopefully it holds.

And because we are meeting at a library that doesn't open till we are about to leave you'll want to gas up and use the restroom before meeting up, there are a couple different gas stations no matter what direction you come from to get to the library.

  4. I took off last Friday to go down to the Blacksburg/Radford area to visit my brother who is there for his new job for a few months. So I decided to take Skyline Drive on the way down Friday, me and him would do the Back of the Dragon on Saturday, and then to get home I would go Blue Ridge Parkway.

Got very luck with the rain holding off all day Friday. Then Saturday it looked like it was going to rain all day, but very luckily it stopped as we neared Tazwel and only sprinkled a little bit once or twice till we were on our way back up to Tazwel. Sunday it sprinkled a little as I neared Blue Ridge, then held off till I hit 64.

Saw a good amount of wildlife that the GoPro in time-lapse of coarse missed each one. Saw a good sized hawk and huge wild turkey. Almost hit two deer, a huge fox, and a rattle snake(somehow heard its rattle with the windows open going about 45 from almost a whole lane over).

Started with around 1500-1600 miles and ended with about 2300.

While I work on converting and uploading the GoPro stuff here is the pictures I took with my phone.

  5. You wouldn't happen to know the water:soap ratio he used would he?

Guess I'll be coming out to this in the fall

It wasn't a whole lot of soap. I'll look at the bottle when I get home and tell ya what it says if he doesn't reply by then.

  6. 1. Some little blue angel fish

    2. The one lighthouse on the island of Aruba, caught it at just the right day and time.

    3. Same as #2 only more zoom.

    4. The lizards love to sun themselves around the pool just as much as the people do.

    IMG_0824.jpg

    5. Almost swam right into this little guy, he was about maybe two inches across.

    IMG_0919.jpg

    6. Switched to macro to get a close up for some coral.

    IMG_1063.jpg

All were taken with a Canon PowerShot SD790 IS in a waterproof case(obviously) except for 2 & 3. All of them are unedited, except #1 just cropped.

  7. With the exception of getting myself stuck in that hold on the way out of the parking lot I had a blast.

Other than a little dirt there are only a few little scrapes on the bottom edge of the black trim on the bottom of the bumper(not happy about it, but silver lining is the JCW Aero kit will be be here in 3ish weeks and will replace that part). Thanks again to whoever it was that helped me out of there, there is a very small dent where you pushed down but it should be easy to pop back out(or just wait till I take it in for the aero kit install and have them do it for me) :top:
