  2. There is not always cell coverage on the roads and using apps like Zello or other app based data programs you get katency, and based on your provider you might not get the message in time. If someone is trying to let the group know oncoming traffic is coming seconds mean everything and a reliable system needs to work 100% of the time.

I thought like you at first until I realized how important they were.

  3. I'm in, but really, 2-way radios? Could I just bring a cellphone?

  4. I'm not going to be able to drop the 90 bones for the race, but I want to come with my GoPro and DSLR and take some pictures. I'm not going to say it is going to be just as fun as racing, but I probably won't have a tense muscles when the race is over.

  5. So I plan on using Waze tonight. One of the nice things about it is that you can post a link and share your position in real time. I'm going to give it a try and post it in the forum for those who want to meet up along the ride, you can see where we are at and when we are expected to get to each of the stops.

Cross your fingers. We will see how it goes.

  6. I put together a last minute run to go view Christmas lights in Northern Virginia (Woodbridge / Alexandria / Springfield / Manassas Area) I wasn't able to make RVA's Christmas lights run, so I thought I would throw one together.

    Meet at:

    C. D. Hylton High School

    14051 Spriggs Road, Woodbridge, VA

5 PM Meet, hit the road around 5:30.

For those who can't make it that early on a weekday but still want to go, we are planning on stopping for some coffee / hot chocolate along the way:

    Mom's Apple Pie

    126 Commerce Street, Occoquan, VA

    between 6:00 - 6:30.

Total driving time for the event is about 2 1/2 hours. If we get started at 5:30, I'm guessing we can wrap it up by 9 with all the stops. There are 10 planned stops at some of the best displays they have to offer in this area.

I'm going to be attaching the route sheet. We are going to be starting in Woodbridge, and ending in Manassas. Those who are coming don't have to stay for the whole run, just let us know you are breaking off and you can at any time.

Look forward to seeing those who can make it.

  7. Wait I got confused..... Tyler set up another one for when we're on vacation that's with CDC. But 7/27 is the same day as the BMW autocross that we're all signed up for :frown:

I didn't see any BMW Autocross on the calendar, so I didn't know about it. As I said, I'm new to the Autocross. If the BMW one isn't too far I'm up for doing that one instead.

  8. This is going to be my first Autocross event. I don't know what to expect, but after going to MOT and doing some technical driving up there, I got the taste of the motoring bug again and need more speed and fun. I'm looking forward to this event and looking forward to seeing some of my DCMM friends that I have not seen in too long.

  10. I missed our brethren from DCMM, but there were about 300+ mini's up there. We had a great time. I went up with my buddy from Boston. He drove his Stealth Bomber up there that was completely covered in gun metal grey plastidip. We set new top speeds on our Mini's and the huricane road drive was insane. Videos and pictures will be up soon on DB's facebook page.

  11. I've been wanting to get tinted for a while. I'm waiting for the Ok from the boss and then I should be able to confirm that 3PM slot. I'm looking for 20% all around including sunroof. Will change from Maybe once confirmed.
