Please join us Wed night 11/4 to meet up with our very own Stephanie (who left us to go to Detroit)
We'll be meeting at Dogfish Head Alehouse
Greenbriar shopping center
13041 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Fairfax, VA 22033
Show up around 7:00 - 7:30
She's only in town a few days so this is the only spot that she had to get together with us
Update on Parking. The stored cars are in the area where we usually gather but there are no cars in front of Sears where customers usually park. Since we're leaving before the mall even opens we will park the MINIs and stage in front of Sears, not at Passport and not on the side where we usually do
I was at Passport today when David showed me that Landmark Mall had filled our usual gathering location with cars. They are working on the garages and all of the cars are moved out to the lots. If it is like this in 2 weeks there's no way we can all park there
Never fear!!!
David said they'll make it work so that we can all park at Passport and your planning team is coming up with a plan to make this work
I think the hardest part will be getting out of the lot. There's going to be a right and then a left at the light. We've never had to do this so we're going to work on it and will just make the best of it.
I will create a route sheet for this scenario
The good news is they are going to offer a prize for the best decorated MINI in the Veterans Day theme
I plan to be ordering graphics for the Countryman in a few weeks or so. Can you install them? They're going to be kind of large and maybe complicated. I'm waiting for the designer to come back with the design, I'm in the queue
MINI USA has just replied to me that they're going to help promote Motoring for Veterans as a challenge from MINI USA and DC Metro MINIs
I hope it helps us to grow the event!!!
I'm also running a parent event to this called Motoring For Veterans. We have 5 clubs signed on including us and C3M
If you're interested you can get a badge at Go Badges
https://www.gobadges.com/product-p/cd0954.htm
$2 of each badge purchased will go directly to the charity
Mach V used to do a lot of work for us but now I think they're mostly a Subaru shop. Also I think the way they did dyno tunes was to set up a day, bring in Jan from CA and then do a slew of tunes. We tried a few years ago and could not get Jan out here, I think it was because we couldn't get enough cars interested.
Alex (MINIinBlack) had a tune done by MINI Dynamics that he's very happy with.
Get creative, you can borrow some of my supplies.
We provide flags but they won't stay on a cabrio with the top down
Just think patriotic or making a show of support for our veterans
I edited my first post with a tentative schedule.
As additional people sign up we'll edit it. If you want to be moved let me know. I tried to honor what is in the RSVP or what people told me
I bought red, white and blue streamers and pennant flags on about 20' of string to hang onto the cars and decorate.
I also got a pack of window markers red, white, blue and yellow
If you have a window flag from prior years please bring it
Let's make this look like a parade!!!!
Great, I think we can use that along with some of the other vehicles footage.
I also am hoping to find someone that isn't going to be driving in the parade and isn't flagging to grab a short amount of video of the cars leaving the lot. Then we can grab some of them arriving. We only need like 30 seconds of footage on each side, hopefully with people waving cheerfully and yelling "Thank you Vets!!!" and stuff like that
Awesome, can you bring it along to shoot part of the run?
We also need someone that's not doing the run to shoot the MINIs leaving.
I plan to use my phone to interview people about why they are attending and get clips of people thanking the veterans
