  1. Since your job will be in Falls Church, you can move into the area where Craig, Haemish and I live.

Ali - we would deefinitely love some suggestions about where to look. We are planning to rent, and would really like a house with at least three bedrooms. A townhouse isn't out of the question, but with two kids and the animals, we have to make sure we have enough space. We were thinking of looking in Manassas to begin with. Even though it is a little further out, we can get something bigger for the money than we can inside the Beltway. I'm used to traffic living in Atlanta, and Manassas is about as far out as I am from work now. Where is Little River Tpk? I don't remember that from my last short stint in the area.

  2. As some of you who are on FB already know, I got some exciting news last week. My position with SSA is being transferred to our headquarters in Falls Church, so we will be moving permanently to the DC area as soon as they can come up with the relocation funds to move me (some time between now and March is what they tell me).

I am looking forward to being back with the DCMM crowd, especially since I will have the family with me this time. We are also excited to be bringing the LEGO MINI back home since we bought her at Passport. We can't wait to get back on the road with the best MINI club in America!

  3. Tim,

Looks great! Are you guys going to bring both cars for the FCR?

it looks great!! You must get a ton of comments on it

    Ali

@Craig - We will probably just bring the Clubby to the FCR. Too much gas to bring both!

@Ali - Thanks, we definitely get a lot of looks and questions.

  4. Hey guys! A friend of mine in the Baltimore area is a freelance writer and has been asked by the Jewish Times to do a story on Jewish couples who like to cook together - especially newlyweds.

If anyone would be interested in being profiled or knows someone who might, please let me know. She is on a tight deadline, so it has to be quick.

Send me an email at tim.beavers@ymail.com for the quickest referral.

    Thanks!

  5. Hey all! I thought I would post a link to my entry in a contest for Atlanta Magazine sponsored in part by MINI. It is looking for interesting road trips and I entered a few pictures from my experience at MOTD 2010. I would appreciate votes from my fellow MINIacs. You can vote once everyday, so please feel free to bookmark and make it a habit! Contest ends on June 30.

  6. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make the next scavenger hunt better, please let me know. Especially compiling the results at the end. That took FOREVER!!

That's why you end up at a restaurant or bar! I have bee

  7. My wife and I both have MINIs - I drive a 2006 MCS and she drives a 2008 Clubman. We have two kids (5 and 18 months) and have no problem riding together in either car. Obviously, the Clubman is easier to get kids in and out of the back seat because of the club door, but the back seats have tethers built in on both cars, so no problem hooking in the car seat.

I'll defer to the techies on the JCW vs. S issue, but I can tell you that the Clubman S package delivers all the power and fun my wife can handle!

  8. Thanks all! The bumps (or studs in LEGO talk) are test caps from the plumbing aisle at Lowes. We spray painted them with automotive paint and clear coat, then attached them with the same automotive tape used to attach badges to the rear of the car. The rest is just pinstripe.

Can't wait to see you guys in Fontana!

  9. For those of you who won't be at the Dragon to see it in person, I thought you might like to see what we have done with the Clubby. It was Cindy's idea, but like a good husband, I did most of the detail work. As you can imagine, we get lots of looks, especially from kids!

  10. Not sure I am going to be able to make this one, but thought I would post it here in case any of you might be interested in hooking up with some of the Atlanta and Tarheel groups.

So I would now like to encourage any and all fun-loving AtlantaMINI's adventurers to give some serious thought to joining us for a memorable romp down one of the great touring roads on the east coast. Fun, fun, fun..

The BRPT is going to be a North to South run this year. So, we will depart ATL early-ish on Thursday Morning 6/17 to make it up to Waynesboro, VA in time to check into our rooms and freshen up before the welcome dinner. We drive on Friday. Stay in a hotel Friday night. Repeat on Saturday and Drive until Lunch-ish on Sunday 6/20 ending up in Cherokee, NC. After Lunch we head back for ATL arriving in the late afternoon. (full details of the trip can be found on the Tarheel MINI's club web-site)

There will be LOTS of interesting stops along our path each day and great camaraderie each evening @ dinner and the hotels. This is a fantastic little trip that I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone who loves their MINI.

  11. Tim,

I like it! I'll take a picture of one more piece of vinyl that would be awesome for you and I'll send it. Nope, I won't give it away, I'll just put it out there for you to see.

Here's a picture of Kooper and other than a potential hood scoop change, I'm pretty sure I'm done.

Look forward to seeing both cars at MOTD!

    Craig

Hmmm. Now you have my interest up. Kooper looks great!

  12. By the way, we are definitely coming to MOTD8. Got reservations yesterday in Cherokee and we are bringing both cars, at least to some of the festivities. We signed up for Indi's run to Pigeon Forge and also the Ice Cream Run on Saturday. Hope to see a lot of our DCMM friends while we are there!
