  1. We feel like we hit the Google Earth Lottery. Last year on the PhillyMINI In The Mountains IV Run, 40+ MINI's were passed by the Google Earth car. Well guess what, it finally surfaced on Google.

Follow the link and look at the street view.... We were re-queing our cars near Muncy Valley, PA on Route 220/42, on a long straight-a-way, after turning right on Route 220, but just before turning left on Route 42.

Sweet! Thats a long ways from Philly! The in-laws have a cabin near Forksville, and we go right through that stretch of road when we travel with them from the Ephrata area. I love that part of PA. If or when ya'all get up that way again I'd love to hear about it, may join you if it's open to non-members. Awesome motoring opportunities. Thanks for sharing

  2. Yesterday was a fantastic MINI spotting day! Six on the drive from Frederick to Alexandria plus a couple in the parking garage at work. And then, another 10 from Alexandria to the British embassy during afternoon rush hour. It was so cool to see them everywhere I looked!

  3. I had dinner with friends living on 2nd street that night. They took me to Volt so we were just across the street from you then. I parked maybe a block behind you that time. Weather was perfect that Saturday.

I've heard lots about Volt, including the fact their chefs are in a reality TV show and doing well.

  4. Iflyga,

Is "Iflyga" you license plate too, I remember seeing a pate with that a week or so ago but cant remember if it was MD or VA tags.

This is off topic but do you fly the same call sign often; I am a controller at Potomac TRACON, if you fly west or south out of FDK then I could talk to you on either 126.1 or 125.05.

I have a "plain and boring" plate right now. Thought about trying to get that one, but figured its taken already. For about 12 years I flew N7236W -an A36 based at KFDK. Now I'm in an SR22, usually N380CD or N343CD. I'm sure we've talked.

All of you at Potomac are great :congrats:, especially since the consolidation of TRACONS! Now if only we could get you the ADS-B feed from FDK for radar vectors from the surface, and end the one-in-one out at the second busiest airport in Maryland. :banghead:

Cheers...and back to MINI talk. Only slightly sorry for the diversion everyone. Planes and cars just fit nicely together!

  5. I saw a horizon blue jcw last saturday parked near the tasting room in frederick,md. It's my first time seeing a jcw in that colorway.

I picked up Skylar on July 4. Love at first sight. Didn't leave the dealer without it! My wife and I had a nice dinner at Acacia, and parked there. It was a perfect night in downtown Frederick and finding that spot was icing on the cake. :top:

    You in Frederick too?

  6. Hello DCMM!

Newbie here! So my question for the MINI VETs on here is about Customs and Courtesies amongst MINI Owners. I am from Houston, TX so the southern reaction to wave and/or speak to total strangers is a reflex. I must sadly report that my fellow MINI Brothers and Sisters out here in Fairfax aren't so friendly.

So, tell me! Is there a secret wave or something that lets other MINI Owners know you mean no harm? LOL As funny as it seems, I thought MINI Owners would be like Bike Riders. As they pass each other you can see them exchange peace signs or head gestures.

    Any advice?

As a fellow HzB driver, I'll waive when I see you! I don't get that many that waives either so I've had to re-calibrate expectations. See ya around hopefully.

  7. If you didn't specifically pay your dealer to install the JCW suspension, then you don't have it. It isn't available as a factory option, only dealer-installed.

For 2nd Gen MINIs, the JCW suspension includes new springs, new shocks, a new rear sway bar and a new front sway bar.

Thanks Edge. I now have lots of exciting research to do! I'm sure there are pros and cons to a dealer installed JCW vs. aftermarket components... so off I go. My goal is simply a great driving road car, that can handle the urban DC environment. Keep warranty in place is a top priority too.

    Cheers

  8. If you have the standard suspension on your JCW then you have the same thing as a stock MCS. If you have the JCW suspension (a $1255+installation upgrade) on your JCW then you have an upgraded version which offers a couple of different part upgrades.

Thanks so much Jeremy1026. I do NOT have the JCW suspension that I know of, and the window sticker makes no mention. This mod with an alignment that I'm sure is more enjoyable than factory setup, looks pretty sweet.

  9. These springs fit all 2007+ MINI Coupe and Convertible.

Dumbest question of the month but here goes. Is the 2009 factor JCW suspension the exact same as an MCS or a JAC or what? The sticker didn't say much and I was so impressed with other aspects of the car, I didn't really care about suspension that much, figured I'd make that my focal project instead of more HP.

Anyway, interested in the answer and then for Mach V Dan.... have you tried these on a 2009 factory JCW yet?

Thanks so much, please forgive the basic questions.

  10. Factory JCW will still be in the S2 class. :top:

    Maxi is in M2.

Great thanks! I'll probably catch the one at the end of August, or in September. So many plans with the family, so little time.
