  1. I entertained the thought of getting the matching Soda seats for mine and Sterling advised against it because of the wiring, etc. and it being a generally a bad idea. Unsure on the reupholstering though, but doesn't seem like a good idea for the same reasons.

  2. I figured Maintenance & Modifications could include body modifications too. Just wanted to share a couple photos of my new tattoo in honor of Phineus. My reef blue Roadster, Phineus, was named after the illegitimate son of Poseidon. So here's Poseidon, who sports a MINI logo tattoo on his chest. An Inception kind of thing, a tattoo within a tattoo. If you look closely, the artist, Michael Walker at Tried & True Tattoo in Front Royal, made the circle in the logo look like a little face, wearing a pair of sunglasses for those days when Phineus gets to LIV NAKD with his top down. Let me know what you think!

  3. The boot is shorter than the bonnet, could you just cut a set shorter.

Actually the way the boot stripes are generally mounted on the Roadster, that's not the case. The boot on a Roadster (and Coupe) is more like a traditional trunk and isn't vertically flat like the other models, so the stripes travel horizontally and then downward to the bumper. Additionally there's the rear pop-up spoiler, which would need to be striped as well since when it's down, it's flush with the horizontal part of the boot and is designed to blend into it. So, it would probably take another two sets of bonnet stripes, plus having them custom cut to fit, etc. And Phineus proudly wears a license tag stating LIV NAKD, so he really doesn't mind if his boot is bare to the world!

  4. I got a quote for just the labor...I had planned on supplying my own stripes.

$350 was the labor only price.

Phineus is a Roadster and only got bonnet stripes, so it was maybe $75 for the 20 minutes of labor. If you're doing everything, including the roof, then that sounds more likely why it's $350. I think I paid about $140 for the Soda bonnet stripes from a NJ Mini dealer online. I was informed that Soda stripes do not exist for other areas of the car and, since only bonnet stripes were manufactured, that's all I got. And seeing Dave do the work so quickly and efficiently is all I needed to decide that I'll never be attempting to do it on my own. As you said PITA. Good luck with it!

  5. Saw the lady with the CR Roadster, who I met at the beginning of the summer at a nearby diner. We were coming opposite directions on New Braddock and both turned onto Singletons in opposite directions :motor:in my neighborhood. We both waved!

  6. I also occasionally see a white one driven by a guy, probably in his 50s, on Route 28 coming from Chantilly toward Centreville around 6:00 p.m. when I'm on my way to Golds Gym in Chantilly. I think I saw him once on the Fairfax County Pkwy too.

It's about time Phineus will have a nearby playmate!

Oh and about two months ago, I met a lady at the Yorkshire Restaurant in Yorkshire (Manassas) who had a chili red Roadster parked near Phineus. She said she's had it for a year and had never seen another one until mine.
