Question on First Gen Cabrio rear seat

I have a little favor to ask of someone with a first gen cabrio. I need to know if there are drainage holes under the rear seats. Tigger had a horrible smell that I finally tracked down (thanks to Lona when she declared "Rip those seats out!!!")

We found a big puddle of water under the rear seats and the foam was rotting. I added sound proofing a while ago so I can't tell if I covered up any drainage holes. Based on the amount of rot in the foam and the amount of water back there I'm guessing this has been going on for a while.

It's really super easy to pull the back seats up. They are just held in by Velcro or something. Would someone mind looking under their seat to let me know if there are drainage holes and if there are I'd love a picture to know where they are. I think I will need to punch holes through the sound proofing material. I'm hoping that this is why the water accumulated, but I'm also trying to figure out if it's normal for some water to get in and drain through or if there should never be water back there.

For now, Tigger has a rear seat delete and he thinks he's a roadster. He smells sooooo much better too

I called my upholstery guy who explained a whole lot about this whole issue to me. He said there are no drainage holes under the seat. He explained that there are drainage pathways through the side of the car to direct water out the bottom. He said that over time they can get clogged. So he's going to do some water testing to find the clog and clear it.

He can also save my seat so I don't need a new one. They squeegee out the water and then kill the mold with a disinfectant.

I guess this is a convertible issue, it can happen with any convertible. I'm happy that I got the stink out of my Tigger and he smells fresh as a daisy right now.

if anyone ever needs a good upholstery guy just let me know!
