Safety tips

Recommended Posts

In case people didn't read this on Barry's last email, it's imperative that everyone understand this, for your good and the good of others on the road. Barry said it perfectly, I'm just pasting it in from the newsletter.

Safety: Once again we have a very large number of MINI attending the MOTD. As the event gets bigger, the roads get more crowded and the chance for accidents increase. There will be alot of folks that are driving these mountain roads for the first time. We need to make sure as a MINI community we are on our best behavior. We will be sharing these roads with locals that are going to work, the stores or bringing their kids to school.

For those not familiar with driving the Dragon or mountain roads in general, PLEASE attend one of MINIBee's safety classes. Either Wednesday from 12-2pm or Thursday from 8-10 am. There are some great tips on our Driving the Dragon page along with a great video that MINIBee made a few years back. We are all there to have a good time, but not at the expense of risking someone's safety. Let's remember a few basic rules:

Don't Cross the Yellow Line

Watch Your Speed

Drive Within Your Limits

Don't Push others to Drive Beyond their Comfort Zone.

Seems like every year there are a few of us that make the rest of the group look bad. Then those folks are photographed and ridiculed on the forums. Let's eliminate that this year. If someone is riding your tail, stay in your comfort zone and pull over at your first chance, if someone is going too slow ahead of you, be patient and don't push them to go faster than they feel comfortable. And always remember, Enjoy the Ride and Stay on Your Side.
